Cleaning it up just doesn't cut it, and having the attitude that you cant do anything more when all you need to do is replace the timing belt. A timing belt is $75 plus labor, you would rather take the chance(which I would say is well over 75%) of your engine failing due to this?
the belt may be 75 but the labor reaches close to 1k, but i guess ill take it to the dealer and learn from my mistakes.

What you could do for a temp fix is cut the hose in the middle where it busted and then put a metal pipe in it and clam it in place but thats just a temp fix. Like everyone else said get that belt replaced.

Im dont temp fixing it, new hose should come in this week and then im going to take it to a mitsu dealer. Is it cheaper to buy the timing belt from lets say MAP or just let the dealer do everything? I was hopping to buy cams when i did the timing at 160k but looks like thats not happening :<

You don't have any performance shops around to do the work?

When you remove both timing belts (if the b-belt has fluid on it too) just hit it up with some simple green, let it sit for a min or so, then spray it with a hose. It should clean up easily.

Thats why i told you to take it to a shop. To avoid further headaches. Timing belt shouldnt cost 1k to change. Shop around.

The point is that the fluid has already permeated the belt and done most of the dirty-work. simple green can't cleanse something that's been absorbed into the belt. i don't know about power-steering fluid, but brake fluid is some nasty stuff

I dont know of any performance shops near me (North NJ). Plus the dealer is on 11 miles away so towing wont be that much.
