How do i replace this hose ._.?
You didn't really read most of these user's posts did you. Nor did you read much of mine. You cant use wipe it up and its fine, it already did its dirty work, you cant take the fluid that has seeped into the belt out. You must replace the belt or replace the engine. Cleaning it up just doesn't cut it, and having the attitude that you cant do anything more when all you need to do is replace the timing belt. A timing belt is $75 plus labor, you would rather take the chance(which I would say is well over 75%) of your engine failing due to this?
What you could do for a temp fix is cut the hose in the middle where it busted and then put a metal pipe in it and clam it in place but thats just a temp fix. Like everyone else said get that belt replaced.
Im dont temp fixing it, new hose should come in this week and then im going to take it to a mitsu dealer. Is it cheaper to buy the timing belt from lets say MAP or just let the dealer do everything? I was hopping to buy cams when i did the timing at 160k but looks like thats not happening :<
When you remove both timing belts (if the b-belt has fluid on it too) just hit it up with some simple green, let it sit for a min or so, then spray it with a hose. It should clean up easily.
Thats why i told you to take it to a shop. To avoid further headaches. Timing belt shouldnt cost 1k to change. Shop around.
The point is that the fluid has already permeated the belt and done most of the dirty-work. simple green can't cleanse something that's been absorbed into the belt. i don't know about power-steering fluid, but brake fluid is some nasty stuff
I dont know of any performance shops near me (North NJ). Plus the dealer is on 11 miles away so towing wont be that much.
See i know brake fluid is bad but i dont know if can harm anything. From what i saw it just coat's a sticky layer of what ever its on.
