Key help and lugnut lock question
So my evo was stolen and long story short i got it back, but when it was recovered i found some sort of aftermarket mitsu key in it.
When i tried to start it I used both OEM keys and neither would work and some little green key light showed up in my instrument cluster, so i gave the aftermarket key a try and it started up.
How do i go about resetting my keys to be the ones that start the car? im EXTREMELY uncomfortable knowing there is possibly another key floating around for my car (they usually come in twos, right?) and now my key fobs don't even work.
im sure somebody knows how to do this.
also, the car was found with the spare on it and my locking lug nut key is gone too and my local dealership wants $54 just to remove the lug nut locks, i find that crazy as i know that takes 3 minutes to do tops when you have the key for it.
any suggestions on what do do there without paying a ridiculous amount for the short time of labor? i have OEM VIII rims on if there are any questions.
i hope someone can help me, it feels great to have my baby back but horrible to have to deal with all this bullshiet

That's sucks, sorry to hear that. At least you got it back in one piece and it's running.
About the key, you'll need to take it back to the dealer and let them reprogram the immobilizer. I'd ask them to check the ECU too to see if it's the original one. I heard that car thief can switch your ECU to a modded one then use the aftermarket key to start your car (which would explain your aftermarket key).
About the lugs, no idea but the point of the lock is you can't get it off without the key so... take it to another shop and see what they say.

Does the keys match to yours? (the part that's cut) It sounds like the thief might of re programed your immobilizer for it to work with his key. Maybe talk to your insurance to see if they will cover the cost to have yours key reprogrammed by the dealer. They would probably want an arm and a leg for it. Where in Wisconsin are you located? I swear its probably the same idiots that are running around Chicago stealing Evo's
I'd also guess the ECU has been swapped, unless they went into your ECU with EcuFlash which is unlikely.
Your SOL on the locks really. The dealer could match the key using their master set, or you can just go to a local tire shop and pay them to remove the old ones and install a new set.
If you can find a cheap set of 4 12pt sockets (3/4" i think) you can pound them onto the locks then remove the lugs, backwoods but I've done it before. Tire shop will use an easy out style socket to remove them.

Sears sells a tool that I got some lock nuts off with. It's a socket with reverse threaded serrated spiral grooves comes in like a pack of four. Beat on with hammer and break it loose

yeah i got the car running, when they recovered it one of the keys they were using was in it. and is the code on that little silver piece that was on the keys that i got with the car when i bought it from the dealership, i know it was a bunch of numbers
I had the same issue with the lug nuts. Bought a cheap mustang and the owner didn't have the lug key.
Get a socket that is slightly to small for the lugs hammer it on. I got 1 off all four wheels in about 10 minutes.

It's too easy to do it yourself. Shops charge a lot. Especially if you have more then one lock. Just be carefull not to nice your rim.
