inexperienced question

alright so i was having a debate with my friend.. now im not the biggest pro when it comes to cars but i know my fair share.. his friend has a twin turbo supra probably dealing about 400hp or so.. im driving a stock evolution.. in a drag race which car would end up on top? personally i thought my car would even though its a single turbo 4 door car.. although this kid swares by supras.. he believes supras deal out the most damage and that they make evolutions look slow with the right driver and right amount of money under the hood... although i think each car with the same amount of money invested that the evolution will always be on top

now i may be wrong but i know a lot of you are very big car enthusiasts, so i figured you guys could lead me to promise land

thx!

There is no answer to your question. Lot's of factors. I have seen BPU Supra's run high 13's. I have seen stock Evolutions run low 13's. Depends on the part's on the Supra and his driving ability. It also depends on yours...

A Supra TT or Single T with 400 horsepower to the wheels with the automatic transmission will give the Evo with 400 HP a good run and I believe it would win against the EVO. The Supra with a 6SPD is different. It depends on the driver all day long. I owned a TT Supra with a 6SPD and the thing was crazy fast although hard to launch. From a role the Supra will kick *** with the TT's

Come on guys, in a straight line, mod for mod, especially at higher speeds, an evo would get SLAUGHTERED by a supra. From a roll, a supra is the most potent car out there. The evo is a great car, but a drag racer it is not.

stock vs stock the evo has a chance since traction is an issue for a 6spd supra and since a stock supra is quite heavy

modded however the 2jz motor is one of the most potent motors out there.... as great as the 4G63 is, there's no replacement for displacement, not to mention one made by toyota for boost.....

even if the evo pulled a 1.8 60 ft the supra would own the rest of the run....

My SS 60 foot's well. Usually high 1.4x or low 1.5x. Still, after stomping a single turbo Supra off the line, there was more than one occasion where the Supra caught and passed me about 1/2 down the track. Needless to say, once they pass you, there's no catching them. I would have no problem with a stock Supra Turbo, but they are killers when modded.

A 400hp Supra to a stock Evo, you can be sure the Supra would get you. -

you would beat a supra off the line most likely due to your AWD but then he will rip past you once he gets good grip. hell..i was driving around 80 mph on a highway and this supra pulls up next to me and lights his tires up (while going 80) and he just drifts in front of me...still burning out...shooting rubber off his tires making it go all over my windshield. i'm jus like..yeahhhh buddy....what a fast car.

Evo VS Supra

If you know how to get a good launch out of your Evo which isnt a hard thing to learn, you could really rip that Supra to the end of 2nd gear or to 60 mph. When I launch my Evo, I dont completely dump the clutch as the car will bog and I risk drivetrain component failure. Rather, I bring the revs to about 6K and come off the clutch about 3/4 of the way before completely coming off it. With this type of start, the Evo will reach the end of first gear almost as soon as your off the clutch!! 1st gear in the Evo with a good launch will make the car almost untouchable to anything! Then, if you can engage 2nd gear quick enough, you will most likely be able to finish off second by the time the game is up. Modded Supras are murderous when already at speed but cant put their power down worth a shi* from a stop. In terms of the full 1320ft.....you will lose if your stock. Go buy some parts for your Evo and you will own that fool without much effort!

Heh, it won't be even close. After 60mph the Supra gets really going, and the EVO starts slowing down. I own both and it wouldnt be close at all.

Theres no question the Supra would win. But it wouldnt be hard to stay ahead to 60.

It's pretty much like DP03 said...

Depending on mods and the length of the race, you could win or lose.

You will likely win if the race is only a short distance.

If it's a longer race, he will win.

It's always funny to hear people say that car X pulled several car lengths on them at the start but after 100 mph, they walked all over them. In other words, they LOST the race all the way to 100.

An EVO owner should know that his car's strengths lie in the launch, curves and braking, not in the high-speed from-a-roll races.

See video below for a reference:

Click on "videos" along the top menu then scroll down to "Videos Archive" section and select the "Corvette with Lingenfelter..."

I ran a 98 Twin turbo supra with 15k on the odometer. He had catback exhaust, intake, and a few other things and I ran a 13.5 he ran a13.55. Nice battle. this is what it boils down to.

Evo- faster out the hole, In second gear a supra will trail by 2 lengths or more

Supra - slower out the whole but will gain on you the WHOLE time after 2nd gear.

I see supra run all the time. On the street from stop light to stop light a evo will hand it to a supra because AWD. at the drag where the supra has time to catch you its anyones game.

From 30-40mph on a supra is probablly going to hand you your ***. But if its from a startthe evo will prevail.

Even a 12.5 supra I lost to, I beat out the hole by 2-3 lengths and had it in the 1/8
