Would you consider an STI???

I'm in the market, & I can't seem to find a decent Evo. A local dealer has a nice STI-- black w/black interior (not that wacky blue), & I'm debating.

I really do prefer a IX, but I also don't want to wait forever, or ship one sight unseen.

Opinions, anyone?

I think you answered your own question. If you want a IX, wait for a IX. They are two COMPLETELY different cars. . .

I agree completely with this statement. I have a lot of seat time in STI's and they are a capable, fun daily driver and I may pick one up someday to use for that. But they just aren't in the same league as an Evo. I think BBC Top Gear's Stig said it best: "The Subaru is a good boys car, but the Mitsubishi is a mans car."

It all depends on what you plan on doing with the car, If you want to mod and track it get the Evo. If you just plan on minor mods and a nice DD get the Sti.

Both are very nice cars in different ways.

I've driven both extensively, and the fact that I first considered a WRX/STI but ended up buying two Evos says something. I'd say Evo or bust, unless you absolutely needed a car soon, one with AWD.

Just to elaborate, if I had never driven an Evo, the STI would probably have been a really good choice, and it still is. But anyone who has driven both somewhat aggressively will most likely want the Evo. For the two cars being so similar on paper, they drive very differently.

Having driven both, I enjoy both cars but I just love the looks and feel (inside and out) of the EVO better. I was strongly considering going after an STi since I was having such a hard time finding a IX in my price range that wasn't abused, I'm glad I waited since I'm sure I would have never been truly satisfied with the STi.

this is guy is right...i own a evo IX and 07 sti....when the evo became too aggrevating to dd b/c of all the mods, i decided to pick up an sti for my dd....if ur wanting to race the car, buy the evo....if u want a nice dd with a lil power, get the sti, but the sti is no race car like the evo....i feel the sti is a lil bigger on the inside, and the interior material quality is far better than the IX....as far as power goes, evo wins hands down...also, im sure u know the gearing is very different...i can be cruising in the sti, but in the evo at the same gear ud just be blasting....i love the exhaust note of the subaru as well, but again, quite diff from the evo...its all gonna come down to ur preference, and ur purpose for the car

I guess more folks seem to hold on to their evo thats why there is less in the market would be my guess. If it was purely a dd I would ge the sti. If I was gonna have any fun in the car I would get the evo. Good things come to those who wait, g/l on your search.
