Need some help / ideas here
The clutch is still in good condition. thedru thanks...they gave it an entire once over and the transfer case seems to be O.K. The transmission, however, is f*****. Needs either a rebuild or used swap
NO NO NO lol if your car is modded more then just intake and exhaust you need to be running 20W-50 non synthetic or synthetic if you preffer but its not gonna make a huge difference. 10w-30 is too light of an oil for a high performance motor.
My car did this, I bought the car in pieces and put it all back together... I took it out and was driving it having some fun. I launched the car a few times everything seemed fine. On my way home I went around a corner and got on the gas... felt a slip and a heard a pop. after this it keep doing the same thing slipping and then popping, long story short I had to replace my T-case and Transmission... Havent had the problem since.
20w-50 is the best weight to run in your car, especially if you have a stroker you do not want to use 10w-30. Your in danger or destroying your engine if you drive hard a lot from oil starvation because its viscosity is too thin.
I Have read about the fact of u are running 100hp or more per cylinder to go with 20w50 like a brad pen oil. Run that in the eclipse. I may switch over after a head rebuild
I am not running a stroker set up. Don't want to hi jack the thread.

Thanks for the extra comments everyone. I have heard so many different sides to which oil to run I honestly don't know what is best. The only power mods done to my evo are a turbo back exhaust and AMS tune so I am not really concerned about running 10w-30. It is the oil that has been run in it for its entire life I guess I am just afraid that switching to a thicker viscosity might mess something up because it is not used to it. or maybe i am just paranoid lol. I will let you guys know what the deal is once R/T pulls the transmission and we get moving on it. Thanks again for everyone's help, ideas and comments.
Stroker set up or stock pistons and rings, if you have more then just an intake or exhaust and especially if you have the boost turned up at all you want 20w-50

. If your car runs great with 10w-30 and you get no knock, oil starvation, sluggish feeling motor, or any strange noises and it runs smooth then your doing alright. If all your running is a TBE and a retune then it shouldn't be necessary to go thicker then that. What boost did they set it to and also it depends on how rough you drive your car
