Inspecting my car emissions

On emissions when I go to get my car inspected will the service engine light cause my car to fail inspection if they put it on the computer and the srs light?

Yes the service engine light will cause a fail, and you can't disconnect the battery to reset it otherwise you'll need to perform a full drive cycle (mine was about 200 miles), in order for the monitors to reset otherwise that will cause you to fail as well. I just went through this last month.

get an o2 defouler or do it the proper way and get the car tuned and have the tuner turn it off. or put your cat back on for the inspection and then remove it after

Do you know why your light is on or what code you're running?
Probably want to figure that out before you go out and buy parts/do work for something that may not even fix your problem, if you can't scan your own vehicle just go to a local parts store like autozone and they will generally scan it and print a little reciept of what the code and problem is for free.

No the cars battery was discharged for a minute and I believe that the people who repaired it took the negative side off the battery.

first go to autozone or get an obd2 reader and see what code it is. if its P0420 then its the secondary o2 and you can do the defouler method. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ouler-how.html

but that just gets rid of the cel, it doesnt help you pass emissions if your car is catless and running rich and crap.

Find out what the code is before buying anything. i would hate to see you buy all these cat things and find out it's for an Evap code and your gas cap was loose.

But yes, you will have to get it cleared and then do a drive cycle.

Car has to be between 1/4 and 3/4 tank of gas.
Do not hit full throttle at any time.

Idle for 10>drive normal for about 20 minutes (highway preferred) at a constant speed below 55MPH. (Cat and O2 sampling is being done)
Shut off car for 4-5 hours(yes hours or overnight)
Idle car for 5-10minutes>then drive like a Grandma(50MPH for 10 minutes).

Check your readiness monitors, you should be all set or at least have only 1 monitor incomplete which is fine for inspection

^ what he said...you need to find out what the code is first! don't go and waste your $5 on a o2 defouler....that might not be your problem. lol
