Lancer was named as Mirage back then....No AWD Mirage was available in the US.

I posted some pics awhile back....
Since both of them are >10yr old cars, it would be less likely you will find stock/low mileage/clean condition examples from overseas.
Keep in mind in some states, if your car is old enough, you might not need to provide model info. You might be able to register your car by proof of ownership only...some guy in MD did that for his RHD EVO V
My guess is it would be relatively easier to get one from UK since you can communicate with them in English vs a Japanese exporter in Japan.
Here is an example of an EVO III from a Japanese exporter, which have their site in English.

The company is J-Garage.

You will not be able to register that Evo in PA. To register a car you have to show the bill of sale and a US issued title amongst other things. If you are importing the car, you can show the bill of lading along with the foreign registration. But if that car is less than 25 years of age, and not on the 'approved' list, you will not be able to register the car for street use....legally.
SC~ who imported and registered a car in PA.

If you want to see a picture of an Evo I..look at the car I drive
Sadly, it is impossible to import an Evo below an Evo VI (I believe it's VI). The first Evo models are too far behind US Safety standards for street use. However, I do not know if you can ship it back "race only". I might try and bring my Evo back to the states when I get stationed there again.

You can ship any car to the US as 'race only'. But you cannot drive it on public roads. You can do this just as easily with an Evo I as you can with an Evo VII. None of them are certified for use on the streets of this country however.
Something a person could do to get an Evo III on the streets in the US....import it as parts....put those parts onto a US Spec Mirage shell with US VIN numbers.

I had a 91 gvr4 #259/2000 I had to sell it and now I want to try to get an evo II or III. I know they are very similar. If I can't find an older evo, I will get another vr4.
