Stock Water Temp Guage Help

Had a shop replace the heater core and now the stock water temp guage does not work. All of the other guages work fine. Don't want to have to take the dash apart again. Where do I start trying to find the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Check to make sure the temp sensor is hooked up also might be bad. 40 bucks to replace

The car ran hot so the head gasket needed to be changed. Had some fluid in the cylinder. Head did not crack. Whew

Wanted to post an update. The problem is now fixed. The connector to the sending unit for the guage was bad. Crimped on a new connector and all is good. Thank you everyone for all your help.
