buying car with ACD problem

ive been searching for a Evo 9 for quite some time now. i found one in New Jersey as i live in buffalo NY. western NY. the evo has 30k miles on it and is pretty much stock. the biggest mod done to it is a shep stage 2 trans in it because the stock tranny blew up. the clutch was recently replaced as well. the car does have a check engine light for a ACD pump. all three lights are on for the ACD. are there c.e.l. for ACD pumps? the seller said replacing the pump will take care of the problem and get rid of the check engine light. does this seem right to everyone? just determining if i should go through with the buy. 30k is low miles which i like and the car is in good shape and right in my price range. the ACD problem is the only thing holding me back!!

ive done plenty of reading on the ACD problems so i do greatly understand what they are all about as well

I'd price up the cost of getting the ACD pump replaced before going much further.

i plan on calling the dealer to get a quote myself. ive done some reading on fixing the problem and i hear its as simple as taking the pump apart and cleaning the corrosion. putting it back in and the problems fixed. seems to easy, but there are re-build kits and pumps i can buy. i am pretty car savy as well so i may be able to fix it myself. i am just curious if there could be more to the problem that hes not telling me about. just trying to push his problem along to someone else..

How he blew his tranny/ACD with stock mods? How much he is asking for his car? If you are serious about it, go find a local EVO shop and i will defi ask them to inspect the car.

well he told me the tranny blew because of no tranny fluid. i asked why didnt he rebuild and he told me the wholde bell housing was cracked all the way through. i then asked why he didnt just get a new stock one and he told me the stock and shep were around the same price and the shep is what he wanted at the time. the only problem is i cant take it to a mitsu dealer personally because i live 250 miles away. i may be able to spend next weekend there. have a dealer inspect the car and if it all goes well..ill buy the car..

Price isn't that bad for that milies, i mean if car having only ACD problem. You can get ACD off from marketplace for cheaper than a dealer or go non ACD for weightsaving. Also make sure ask him for tranny receipt, those stage 2 isn't cheap tranny. http://sheptrans.com/products/evo-4-9/

If car is in NJ, post up here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/northeast-region-40/.
Find a EVO shop and take it for inspect. NOT a mitsu dealer.

Good luck!

yea i already told him i want to see the receipt. and yes the price is awesome. the thing is tho. the ACD is throwing a check engine light and to get the car registered in New York it has to pass the state inspection and with the check engine light..theres no passing inspection for me!

19800 seems reasonable with the ACD problem, even if you have to pay for a new pump. If you are actually able to take it apart and fix it yourself like you had mentioned, and don't actually have to buy a new pump, them 19800 is a great deal.

Either way, I would recommend that if there is any way possible, it is a good idea to have a shop/mechanic give it a once over for any problems that may exist.

So a tranny develops a crack on the bell housing just from no tranny fluid?

ACD going out only triggers all the ACD lights to come on, not a CEL.

Walk away. Your just gonna buy someone elses problems.

honestly im not too worried about it having a stage 2 tranny. that didnt make much sense to me at all. but i asked him what the codes were coming up as so he told me he will have them in a day or two. so well see what happens with that..

I would leave it alone honestly if your paying that much the car has to be fully functional in my honest opinion. It seems like this car is more trouble than what its worth.
