Torque Solution Short Shifter Help

Hey guys just bought a torque solution ss. I ended up cutting my stock shifter to get the collar off. I installed the shifter the first time, pulled it back out and reinstalled it again, and everything is still really really tight. It will move into gear but u have to do it very forcefully. Is there something I missed somewhere like a spacer that needs pulled or something? I'm almost thinking I got shipped the wrong short shifter but it seems like its the right one???
Please help

well short shifters by decreasing the height gives you less leverage which in turn causes the extra effort needed to get into each gear. youll get used to it eventually. did u grease every part well tho? id take the console apart again and recheck or even take a pic and post it on here

One of the first mods I did to my 7 was a short shifter, personally it's more comfortable and provides better smoother shifts. I didn't feel any extra affort at all.

What do you mean by forcefully, as in need more effort or have to reef on it to get into gear? Just curious, just ordered one...

i just tried installing mine today too. I cannot get the upper plastic piece back on and if I could it would be tight as hell too. I compared the stocker and this and u can clearly see the main ball is slightly bigger than the stocker. Waste of my time. Send it back like im gonna have to do and wait yet more time.

i installed my torque solutions SS with no problems like ya'll are talking about.
after the initial install, it was pretty stiff to get into gear. but that changed.
u gotta remember, the shifter is lower, less leverage to shift as well as no counterweight on the top to help shifting easier.

the upper plastic piece is suppose to be pretty tight, u dont want the shifter to come out. this was an EASY install.

i followed these instructions. make sure ya'll follow it correctly.

thats the same instructions I used. It was easy to install but I believe in my case the main pivot ball is machined to big where I cannot even get the upper plastic piece back on. I put the stocker back in with no fitting issues

I would have to reef on the thing to get it to even move around. I had the same issue ^ with that plastic collar. I recommend that nobody else get this shifter at this point in time because there apparently was some machining issues with a few of them or something. I ended up grinding, sanding and cutting down on the ball for about a an hour and was able to get it to move and shift like the stocker. However that process should not be required when you spend close to $100 on it.

I just talked with torque solutions and there was an issue with a small batch. They kindly noted there was an issue and a new one would be sent to me in a few days. So at least we know we were not installing wrong. Also hey any company has issues in the parts making industry. Its no biggie to wait a few more days.

man i just had the same problem right now installing mine. the damn ball was too big, i love the way the gears go in and all but when its in the neutral position the thing is just stuck. Like If i move the shifter to the right in the neutral position it just stays there it wont center itself like the stocker. I did look at the pivot ball and it is clearly bigger than the stocker.

Im gonna call TS tomorrow and see what i can do, in the mean time i have no choice but to use it since i cut my stock shifter.
