shotty labor

So basically my car has been broken down for about 8months due some form of engine failure. I sent my car to English Racing for a full motor rebuild to fix the problem. During teardown they discover that my flywheel is loose and it is the cause of the terrible noise and caused my engine problems. This makes me so mad because the jerks that replaced my clutch didn't install my flywheel properly causing it wobble around lose and trash my car. Not only did they install this improperly but they went 800 bucks over the estimate charging me 1400 bucks to do a clutch kit swap. Keep in mind this replacement was only labor cost. I provided all of the parts myself. WTF! Not more than a day after that swap my ACD lights were all on. They failed to fill my ACD fluid tank back up and busted a line in the labor process trying to cut corners. They had the nerve to try and charge me to fix their mistake. not but a month later my car has this problem with the noise. Now I am in this position with a broken car with the risk of the engine failing after that flywheel breaking.

Anyone local do not go to "Sports and Imports" in Great Falls, MT

Sorry you had to go through that kind of situation,i've been a tech for a long time and i hate to see shops that don't take ownership of their mistakes and make it right for their customers, wish you the best man !

That sucks. This is why I prefer doing my own work. I had a random local shop rebuild my tranny and install a new clutch/flywheel and luckily it went smooth. 30k later and I'm about to do it myself.

Yah I am not the only one that has had big issues with these guys in town. All my friends are telling me what kinda crap they are pulling. I plan on putting together a big petition to get their license taken away with all this evidence piled up. My buddy had his timing belt done and some valve work done on his STI there and I guess its ok to use JB weld to repair valves. The also make claims that they replace parts and come to find out they dont. I am just happy to have the right people on the job doing my motor at English Racing thanks to Miles and Aaron. I got my fingers crossed for compensation or lawsuit to go in my favor cuz I'm not paying 6k in damages due to a "certified technician" doing **** poor work

$1,400 in labor to replace the clutch? How did it end up at that price? Did you pay it?

Make sure you file a report with the Better Business Bureau too.

Your typical honda swap shop wont cut it with these cars. Given your location, ER is your best bet for a reputable evolution/dsm shop. You're in good hands but sucks you had to get burned to get there.

Take it to small claims court man, no one should let shady garages get away with this type of garbage work done. Send them a letter requesting compensation with photos and if they don't respond take it to small claims court and get your money back.

There are too many shops doing this to steal our hard earned money and you can't let them get away with this.

BBB doesn't do **** but post the complaint for others to see, but it won't help you in this case.

It cost so much to litigate that most times we as consumers take in the @$$.

I was/am the victim of a shops incompetence. I have discovered one thing. IF they don't specialize in the Evo platform they do NOT know what they are doing.

My trans got trashed so I guess i got lucky this time. Spec-Ops is taking care of me but all of this and stuff my other friends have gone through makes me never want to go to a shop again. I don't have time, knowledge or tools to do it myself but its starting to feel like if I don't get those things then maybe i should stop doing this.

The amount of people who get taken for a ride (hell I have personal stories of my own). I'm just sick and tired of it. good luck to you op. I'm losing my taste for overspending and getting crappy treatment.

If I do end up parting my car out then I will need to get a car that is fast out of the box so I can do the bolt ons myself and only worry about going to a reputable tuner with a proven unquestioned track record.

Yah I defiantly feel like I am in good hands with English. It just really sucks having everyone out here not know what they are doing with my car. Montana is not the state to be an amateur mechanic with an Evo. Being forced to go 2 states over for a job done right is all I have for a choice unfortunately. I have heard nothing but bad things about this place I just wish I was told sooner. This is the biggest problem in military towns. Every business is out to bone you and always seem to get away with it

Sounds like what happened to me with my Corvette dropped it off for a tune and they return it with a blown motor. Then blame me when it was running and driving 100% for the 6 months prior and your gonna tell me it blows up the one time you put it on the dyno.....

if I was you I'd call a lawyer the one thing I did was let them take it apart and see what happend so I could not persue a suit due to the fact no other tech would look at it after it was take apart.
