So, EVO Motor Swaps?
#46
i posted the orig pic with the intent of seeing what else was out there, not for people to argue over how pointless or stupid the idea of a swap would be. the craftsmanship and skill to shoe horn a V8 of any kind into the engine bay is beyond my competency level. so, from me that alone garners some respect. the same could be said for people like top secret when they removed a 2jz and replaced it with the smaller 3sgte sacrificing power for weight and balance. but idk, seems there is just alot of hatred for thinking outside the box. in southern MD (where i live) there are more then a handful of the 280Zs and RX7s riding around with V8s. i never really thought much of it, other then the amount of time the owners spent other the hood trying to make the thing work and drive. just my .02$

Drifting isn't a motorsport.

It's judged, not timed.

Post #4 said, "If you have the machines, extra hands, you can weld and you have a lift it wouldn't be too hard."
It's probably going to be hard, but I agree with the first part of the statement. Custom motor mounts, custom bell housing, different ECU and harness, different set of sensors, a way to convert the Mitsu speed sensor to talk "Ford", probably through the use of an aftermarket ecu in the first place or microcontroller as a signal translator. There will be a lot of annoying little bits that have to be modified. Prepare to cut and weld a lot. Check out the B is for Build Datson 240z on youtube to find out what kind of work and tools it would to take to make that engine fit in an evo.

Bulk cash. Like just a duffle bag full of it. Give to a shop with a good reputation and pick your car up in 2-3 months.
Get back a car slower than dsm with a 20g and a set of cams or just a stock powerplant evo with a FP green and cams.

I don't think I'd want to run such a torque-y motor on a stock transmission. Even if it was built, it'd give me anxiety haha. Then again if you're spending the money on adapting an LS to an evo trans you can probably afford to build it or put a sequential in it.

I don't see the tq being a problem for the trans. A lot of ppl make 500+ tq in their evos. Biggest difference would be the synchros not having to work as hard seeing he engine is being rev'd nearly as high.
P.S. I'm not a real mechanic so take anything I say as a grain of salt.....maybe less
