Ran Engine with no oil
Thanks, i will def. do this anyways. all the confirmations make me feel that all is well luckily..i really thought i damaged something and freaked out.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. I got in my 9 and drove aprox 45 highway miles and the oil pressure light came on about mile #39 for a sec. When I got home I saw oil on the concrete pad. Turns out I had a pin hole that rusted through my Mobil1 filter. My car has 18K on it and has had 8 oil changes so I believe it was a manufacturers defect. I changed the oil and switched to a K&N filter. No problems 1k later.

At the dealer I work at we've had lube techs drive cars out of the shop and on their way to our car wash building realize they didn't put oil in and there were no signs of damage, just filled it up and they were on their way. I've seen the whole leaving the oil cap off scenario happen too like Runker was saying, pain to get all the oil out of the hood.
At my work, one of the guys forgot to put oil in, just as he got to the parking spot about 1 min of idle driving, the engine seized... the cams were locked.. needed new cams and head, luckily the valves didnt strike the pistons. In your case, your lucky it was only for a very short time and that you caught it before major failure. you should be fine but let it be a reminder to slow down
ok, just one simple question:
why the need for notes, keys, a path back to the drivers seat?
I don't know how u guys do it but, for the last 28 year the first thing I do is open the hood and put everything I need under it.
isn't this a good reminder?
