resale value of our cars?
Who thinks that the Evo will always be high in demand? I honestly think because of the fact that evos aren't being produced anymore that evos will always be in high demand. what do you think?
Buggy whips arn't being produced either...
They will stay high for a bit, then drop off pretty quickly when there are fewer and fewer parts to maintain them.
I almost purchased a Ferrari 308 the other day for less than you can pick up a used Evo 8.... but then thought against it due to parts costs

I think they will always be in demand from people that own them now. They will be our "muscle cars" when we get older, and i believe that parts will be continued to be made to keep them on the road for a long time.
The reality is that you're asking the wrong group of people at the wrong time. Wait 10 years and ask again, you will see what I mean.
If you ask the Vega owners club if their cars will always be valuable back in the day they would all be saying "yeah man, these are a classic" but fast forward 20 years, and there are still a handfull hanging onto their cars in flawless condition, the rest of the people look at them and say "what were you thinking"
Yes, it's an extreme example, but an example of how you are asking the wrong people... we may have a "large" community in the import world, but it's still tiny overall.

I cant see our vehicles dropping much at all...especially the well maintained/upgraded ones.
The Evo 9 is one of the greatest revered and well respected sports cars of all time. Other examples of cars that havent really dropped much are Skyline, NSX, Supra.

Wich is more rare the 8 or 9 ? I dont think these cars are gonna loose that much value since they were produced for 5 years only (US) Kinda like the supra, the skyline was never sold in the US and the nsx because of its rarity. My friend that sold me the evo got offered $18,000 for it but he didnt wanna sell it to just anybody, alot of people still want these cars.
I picked up my R32 GT-R for 9K in 2001 far more rare, far more performance, and a much stronger reputation. Still dropped like a stone in value when the newer and greater was coming out.
Like I say... you're asking a bunch of fan-boys... if you asked the Fiero owners club back in 89 about the resale value of their cars back then, they would say things like "It's a modern day classic" and "its so ahead of it's time it will be valuable for ages" now look at them.
Judge slowly... it's not going to hold it's value, and in 15 years, you will be able to pick them up for pretty cheap.

Yeah, those were the first 3 on a google search, and you could have picked 2 of them up for under 2K, and the other is a collection of really expensive parts on a cheap chassis.
It happens with every fan-boy car.... MR2 Turbo, skyline, DSMs, 3Sis and so on.. primary owners always think they are going to hold their values... then they grow up, and move onto a more comfortable car or SUV, selling the car for half what they purchased it for... The 2nd owner kid who buys it for 15K beats up on it for 3-5 years, then sells it to a 3rd owner for 8K... at the end of 15 years, you can pick up 4th owner cars for 2-5K....
Sorry guys, that's the truth...

All these cars have a "bottom" line price they won't sell under. The civic hatchback from 92-95 still sells for 3 to 5k. Regardless of mileage as long as its running and the body isnt beat
The Evo will have many lives, I see the value only going up from here as more get totalled and winter driven.
Not sure why people are having trouble with the concept of comparing depreciation across cars from the same manufacturer. If I was going to estimate the depreciation of the new A-class AMG from Mercedes I would look at the depreciation of other AMG cars as a guideline.
Makes sense to me. I guess the truth hurts?
