Evo sensor?

Hey everyone i just have quick question, i was recently talking to someone and they mentioned something about a sensor the evo has that can tell if you beat the crap out of it, but it wont show unless you go to the dealer and plug it in the scan tool or something. I was just wondering if this is valid information or not lol
thanks

yeah i mean i didn't believe it but since my friend was told that by a dealership that there was no warranty because it was beat on and the code or whatever popped out the warranty was lost, I was skeptical lol like i never even heard of that type of thing lol. must be a dealership thing consider it was a 06 IX MR with 29k miles...

some newer cars do it's basicly the snap shot device that progressive uses keeps track of vehicle speed and can tell when how hard you brake and such

Yea that doesn't sound to be too accurate honestly, if mitsubishi has that type of sensor i'm sure ALL make and models do which I assure you don't have that feature...

Quite a few of the newer cars have a basic logging function, which can show max boost, max RPM, max speed and the like. others will show a snapshot of the conditions when a fault code is thrown. so if there's a fault that says "cam sensor error" followed by "random miss" and the snapshot shows that you were at 9K RPM and boost was at 30psi with WOT, then they can say that you were beating the crap out of the car, and will not warranty your blown engine.

It's how Nissan tried to void all the transmission warranties of the GT-Rs, because it showed that the car was in "launch mode" with all traction control off when the transmission fried and started throwing codes.
