Speed sensor
Speed sensor
So I replaced my clutch on my Evo ix the other week and now that everything is put back together I am getting a check engine light and my speedometer will not work nor will my odometer. I checked the code on my code reader and I am getting the engine speed sensor code. I have since then checked connections & pulled the sensor out to check for any damage, but nothing was seen. I just got through replacing my speed sensor thinking it could be something internal, but the speedometer still will not work. Does anyone know what that white gear engages in the transmission? I am thinking something broke there and is not turning the teeth on the end.
Its the same harness that connects to the main harness. Check the connector and the pins to make sure they didnt bend when you reconnected it. If you didnt disconnect it when you pulled the trans, you may have stretched the wiring.
I checked the pins on the sensor as well as the connections on the harness, everything looks fine. I removed the harness before pulling the tranny so I know I could not have stretched anything. I am curious what the white gear on the sensor engages in the transmission. I think something might have broke there.

It splines into the final drive gear ring for vehicle speed. Its weird how it would stop working after a clutch install when you disconnected and reconnected it.
Check all of your fuses to start.
Is the code a P0500? If so, the ECU is not seeing a signal back which would indicate an open in the wiring, poor connection, or no power at the sensor.
With the key on, check for voltage at the speed sensor and go from there. There should be power, ground and signal circuits. Search for a wiring pin out to check these.
