Sound deadening removal after dry ice?

Yesterday I did the dry ice method of removing my sound deadening and for some sections it worked great (under the rear seat), but others not so much. Before I did this there was sections of it that was melted to a tarry, sticky state. Like asphalt sealant sticking to my shoe. These are the parts that, while getting frozen and hard, were so stuck to the floor I couldn't chip them out more than 1/4" at a time, whereas the other parts came of in sheets. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution besides a chisel or wire wheel?

Here is a pic of one section (driver's rear footwell) with the melted piece I described. I'll wire wheel it if I need to, but I'd like to avoid painting until I stitch weld the whole thing. Thanks!

I always used a screwdriver and a hammer. Go back over it with primer to cover up scratches in the paint. Its work.

Once I used the dry ice, I went the opposite way and got a heat gun and chisel to finish it off.

More dry ice doesn't work, I had enough left over to let it sit on these spots for over an hour and it was still stuck. The rest took maybe 5 min of exposure.

I'm thinking a paint scraper and hammer would work, but just wanted to see if there was a trick I didn't know about first.

Wax and grease remover works the best. It just melts it away, but at the same time when it dries and there still some left, it becomes very very sticky. It took me 2 gallons of commercial grade wax and grease remover to clean out the trunk.

Dry Ice was able to work on 90% of the sound deadening material in my car. After removing as much as I could with the dry ice, I sprayed the hell out of the floor board with this...

Amazon Amazon

I bought a can of that advance auto or autozone. I scrubbed the floor with some rags & it cleaned up nicely. Anything that was left on the floor, which was very little, went from sticky to not sticky....

same with me about 90% came off with the dry ice. i think i only used about 15lbs. got it at the grocery store. that melted tar stuff is smeared seam sealer. that stuff is a biotch to get off the looks like the tar was put over the seam sealer and it bonded to eachother. I also used a small quart of acetone to clean up the leftovers before i took a shaker can to it

Has anyone had their car begin popping after this? Now I get a series of pops when I brake or turn sharply and I can feel it on the floor by my feet. I'll be looking under the car tomorrow when I get off of work, but has anyone else run into this?
