Is my internals damaged??

I removed my timing belt without making sure everything was at top dead center. The cams were off TDC by a half rotation, so I rotated them back to TDC... I was wondering if this damaged and internals?? I felt a little bit of tenision then the tension released (I am guessing it was the compression) But do you think there was damage??

I did not rotate the crankshaft...

As long as you didn't crank the motor you should be fine.

Do a compression test when you re assemble. Sounds like it may have just been compression pressure though.

He means as long as you didn't start the car.

Take the spark plugs out when you do a timing belt that way you can turn the motor over very easy by hand and know for sure if you are hitting a valve.

If the plugs weren't removed, and you didn't turn the crank (just the cam), it's very unlikely that you caused any damage if you were careful.

Let your common sense and judgment be the best guide to your answer though. Did you turn the cam by hand? A short ratchet? An impact gun? It's all really gonna depend how much "resistance" you felt, and how hard you turned it.

It's really hard for us to answer such a vague question though.
