Also I know that a clutch is alittle more time involved than a head but why couldn't the bushur car get a new clutch installed and back up and running???

I really wanted to see what the top tuners on this site were compared to each other...That is a bummer...
The Buschur car was acutally a privetly owned cat which ahd nothing to do with buschur - it was just a stage 4 Buschur set up that had the Buschur flash I cutomed tuned in Cali

The owner of that car made the silly mistake to try and change the clutch the night before the event - - his mechanic messed up the job - game over

As for me - i offered to drive my car 2,500 plus miles across the USA on snow tires to attend the event and show the dependability and incredable flexability of the evo to drive 2500 plus miles and then go 10 seconds in the drag strip

There are many claims why I was not allowed to enter the race

The editor himself told me I was "overexposed" because my car was in other magazines this year

Later SCC posted that I was invited but never called them back

Some people claimed I was not a real "tuner" becuase I don;t make any parts

meanwhile i have tuned 335 evos - almost 10% of the US market

In any event - its very silly to me when the quickest evo in the USA offers to attend - wants to attend - but can't attend

I will be hitting the track very soon to humiiate the results that were obtained at this event

Also - my stock engine dyno sheets were more power than any of these so called expert tuners

Its sad that this sort of stuff goes on in this business - - I thought cars were about mechanical creations, speed and skill - - - but I found out that the magazine trade has more to do with politics, dollars and who you know

I am just a big loud mouthed jerk without any political skills so I can not compete with the PC crew

Not much of a Shootout, huh? I think I know who will come out on top when the story runs. Anyone want to make a wager? Figure 2-3 months before the article shows up.

!st the race is still going on right now - I only know the 1st day recults and Like the big german guy in Hogans Heros TV show - "I Know nothiding "

BTW - some of you guys may say I am a big mouth braggard - but - please remember - for the past 8 months I have continuously been the quickest evo 8 in the 1/4 mile in the USA and prob the world - AND - I drive my car every day

I never blew up any drive train parts or major engine parts

To me - this is not a bad accomplishment for a daily driving car with snow tires and a baby seat

Its my only car so I need it to work every day

Al, you know I think you're great (in the personal sense), but I think the problem is that you tell/told people ALL THE TIME. We know your ride is sick (I mean, how many of us were featured in a magazine??), but you should speak softly and carry a big stick (or potent Evo). It's too bad you didn't get invited. Still, you know what your car can do - be happy with it.

See you March 20th in MD...

Chris

Al,

No offense man, but I think we all understand that your car is quick, but in my mind the evo is not just a drag car. I think that the best tuner is someone who can find the best balance in all aspects of racing. That means being quickest through both the straights and in the turns. Once you are the fastest in both then by all means call yourself the best tuner. I hope that I didn't sound like I was flaming, because that is not my intent.

Blah blah blah. Theres no trick to getting good times around a race-track. You just need someone with the right tools and knowhow to setup your suspension and a good driver. Don't make it out like certain "tuners" have a different mindset in making power. These guys aren't running 9" Ford's and a Y2K Turbo. (And it just so happens that every tuner who has made over 700Whp in a 4G63 isn't in this event) So whoever knows how to build the stoutest engine and best turbo setup is going to win in a stock-bodied "real" racing event. The real racing happens in event's that are measurable.

"Better track time then our cars??? HAAAA.you got to be kidding, well maybe in the orange cone tiny course in the Walmart parking lot."

It's pretty funny in hindsight that all the **** Al took for having some engine problems. Then the tuner who shoved this in his face does the same thing the first time he builds his 4G63. Yet, Al was pretty polite in the way he responded when Shiv blew his engine.

Aside from the "known" 4G63 tuners... No ultimate racing, no RNR and no SFP. (They may have been invited for all I know.)

Sorry guys, everyone had to sign a non-disclosure agreement to attend this event. I work at RRE, and I can't even get the details. They are being VERY closed mouth about it, and there's nothing we can do to change it.

Everyone's having trouble, but I guess that's the way it goes for these events.

I'm sad that the Buschur sponsored car could not attend, I know it would have done very well on the road course.

The magazine article should come out in about 3 months.

Found this thread,
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...&pagenumber=11

and here is a quote from SCC

For those interested, here are the facts.

Fact one:

Al and I last spoke about the EVO shootout on Wednesday, December 19. Having spoken about the possibility of his invitation on one previous occasion, we discussed the fact that his car has been in several other publications and how this creates a compromise when it comes to featuring it in SCC. Magazines live and die by their sales numbers and featuring a car that's been seen before is never a wise idea. Thus, my hesitation to give him an immediate invitation.

However, I was admittedly intrigued by his proposal to drive across the country and his claim to make a ten-second pass in the same car. Al was told on the 19th that we should talk again on Friday, December 21 as this would give the staff a day to discuss his possible inlcusion and make a decision. He was invited to call back on that day. He never reached us. Knowing that we still had nearly seven weeks before the contest, I made no effort to contact him on December 21.

Fact two:

Shiv Pathak and Vishnu Tuning make no editorial decisions at SCC. Yes, Shiv has a closer relationship with the magazine than many tuners since he has in the past and occasionally still contributes tech stories to the magazine. However, his editorial contributions to SCC predate his proprietorship of Vishnu Tuning by four years. Unfortunately, this is occasionally perceived as a conflict of interest despite SCC's best efforts at full disclosure. Yes, Shiv is our friend. No, Shiv doesn't tell us who to invite to our tests.

What better way to establish neutrality than to have a tuner shootout and invite every tuner? We can't think of one, which is why we make huge efforts to invite a significant sample of the country's best tuners in all our tests.

Fact three:

Magazines have limited resources. It takes days of work to put together a test with even five cars. Doing it with ten or twelve is a disproportionately larger amount of work, not to mention a thankless pain in the *** at times.

These facts place unfortunate limits on how many cars we can test at once. Therefore, inviting everyone we'd like isn't always possible, which is why there's never been a comprehensive test of every tuner WRX or EVO in the country. We're attempting something we've never done before with this EVO test by inviting 13 tuners.

Fact four:

Al has not been invited or excluded from SCC's EVO test. His invitation was discussed among the staff and it was decided at the time he should be included. Al never contacted us or he would know this. Since then, Al's repeated attacks on SCC's credibility, his mudslinging and his general attitude have forced us to reconsider. We remain undecided.
