Help?! Battery Problem?
Help?! Battery Problem?
I just swapped out a new stock 03 turbo onto my 05 evo yesterday. Car was running fine with a little boost leaks here and there I was going to fix today. So like 5 minutes ago as I was going to drive to work, I go to start my car and it started making a fast machine gun like clicking noise (all the lights work). I opened up the hood and tried starting it and I noticed smoke coming from the right piece on the battery when I would try to start it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks !
clean the battery terminals, even if you dont see the corrosion take both terminals off and clean both cables and terminals
reinstall and test with a battery tester if you have one, autozone has one complementary they ll test for you, just get someone competent ( a lot of guys who work there are ignorant and simply dumb when it comes to cars )
that ll give you an idea as to whats up

Will clean them as soon as I have a chance. Question though. Could this be a reason for the right terminal to smoke when I would try to start the car? Thanks for your response btw man. Appreciate it.

np good luck, oh and if there isnt an autozone near you advance, or any retail car place like those stores will have that type of tester
Solution: Hopefully helps someone else in the future
So I finally figured out the problem after running numerous tests. Turns out the connector to my negative terminal was just really corroded even after using battery cleaner and a wire brush. Solution: I cut the wire that connects to the negative terminal and disconnected the connector. Bought a $13 terminal connector (had an extra red and yellow wire [useless] as a ground) and spliced the wires and connected the connector to the terminal and viola, problem solved. Thanks for the replies everyone!
