When putting the wing back on?
When putting the wing back on?
So I'm replacing my 9 wing to an 8 wing and I wanted to know what most of you are doing about the adhesive when putting the wing back on. Do you add 3m double sided tape or just leave it out?
I would think without it water might go back in between the trunk and wing and cause rust.
i was thinking of buying a roll of rubber mat and cutting it to size but cannot find a thin rubber mat anywhere (lowes home depot harbor freight michaels pepboys oreilys etc)
I also read you can buy thin closed cell weather stripping but I wanted to know what others were doing. I'm not worrying about going wingless later since i bought a wingless lancer trunk a year ago to go back and forth

The first time I put my wing back on I used double sided 3m adhesive to install it. I have the wing off again right now, and I'm just gonna bolt it on without the adhesive. I don't think you really need it, although you make a good point about water getting in the trunk, which I will keep my eye on just in case.

The 8 wing is full carbon fiber and the middle section is filled with foam for added strength. The 9 wing has carbon fiber in the center section with no foam in the middle and ABS on the sides (not carbon fiber).
I put mine back on with a thin strip of 3m just on the sides of the base of the wing...
My trunk had a bit of rust in the corner under the wing when I bought it, I didn't consider the tape to be a possible cause...regardless if there's tape there or not water can still get caught in there.
