ABS light

could anyone help me out to maybe see why my abs light will turn on but the sometimes it will turn off so dont really know this guy told me it was my brakes but i looked at them and the pads are still good so dont really know why is it doing that. Its a 2003 mitsubishi evo 8 any help will be appriciated.

He means down by the brakes. There's a sensor for each wheel. The wiring, the sensor itself or the toothed ring could be damaged.

Check the wiring harness that runs down to each wheel. My ABS light came on about a year ago on my 04. I discovered the wiring harness on the right front wheel, behind the rotor had been severed in two. There is a shield on the back side of the rotor which is what the harness is fastened to. The only thing I could think was it was a result of vibration. I soldered the wire back together with some heat shrink tubing and the problem was solved.
