is it possible to pass smog in Cali with an aftermarket Cat?

TECHNICALLY, Yes, it is possible to pass since they dont look under the car and make sure it is factory. BUT, aftermarket cats dont catalyze the emissions as well as the stock cat will. It will probably cause your emission levels to exceed their allowable limits, thus failing you. So, you are better of having a stock cat for smogging purposes.

Just get a stock cat and u should be good! My car passed with down pipe, cat back, IC and piping intake and o2 housing.

My S2000 was likethat. I don't get the smell from the Evo. Not sure why.
