Need help my Evo is over heating.

Hello guys I need some help and I can't figure it out. I have a 2003 Evo 8 fully built engine from buschur racing. When I am driving my evo in the city and when my car is idling for a couple of minutes it over heats. When I drive it on the high way it doesn't over heat. I checked the fans and they turn on. I replaced the stock radiator and I put in an OEM radiator. I also replaced the thermostat, what else would it be?

Check to make sure both fans are working. Bleed the radiator. If not, check your overflow and see if your burning coolant.

Head gasket leak? Check head stud/bolt torque.

Definitely bleed it. Nose of the car in the air, radiator cap off, fill the radiator, and turn the car on and leave it on long enough til you don't have to add any more coolant and no more air bubbles pop up. Once the thermostat opens air will work its way out once coolant runs thru. Can squeeze the rad hoses to help burp everything.

what kind and how many fans do you have-- if aftermarket check to be sure they are blowing/pulling in the required direction-- ( i have had that happen.) Check the oil filler cap for white milky deposits---sign of a blown head gasket

Its an after market fan it came with the turbo kit. It's a Buschur Racing T67 P Trim Turbo Kit (37R).

Are you going by gauge on the dash or are you logging it or both? What temp are you at when it overheats?

Is the coolant overflowing the overflow bottle?

I am reading it from the dash, I've never checked the temperature but that will be a good idea.

If you have the OEM fan, swap that in. The OEM fan cools much better than any of the aftermarket slim fans. This could be the issue if your slim fan isn't producing enough air. Try and turn the A/C on and watch the car at idle, if the fan is struggling to keep up, that could be the issue.

Keep us posted.
