Dirty walbro filter causing lean condition?

Does this filter look overly dirty/bad? I was wondering if this could cause me to run lean up top? Thanks

You've got it out. Just change it. One less thing to worry about, and those screens cost nothing. Doubtful that it is the only thing causing a lean condition up top. If it was truly clogged, it would be running lean consistently.

I am changing it, I'm on E85 for the last few months and am thinking it may have unleashed a buncha crap into my filter. I'm at around 450hp and am leaning out up top. I have an EF3 and have been told a single walbro can get me to 500hp, but havent been able to turn the boost up all the way yet.

OK so I run an fp bb red. I too thought a single Wally could net me 500whp. I even modded it the punch way. On e85 ull get 460-480whp "safely" I was another guy that tried to be stubborn anr avoid a double Pumper. Tscompusa did get me 505whp on e85 with a single Wally. But after he talked to mrfred he found something with fuel pressure not being enUF. And at higher rpms my Afr was leaning out a bit. I think it was like 13 or something. So he advised to get a double Pumper. So I folded and bit the bullet and bought one. Now I netted 524whp safely. I'd say to be safe on a single Wally nothing over 450whp on e85. U didn't put all that money in ur engine just to take a risk on one of thee most import things not to skimp on. I know this is not what u wanna hear. But take it from a guy who really really didn't want to go double Pumper duue to money and fear of that 2nd pump dying. Good thing is I just barely need it so if it goes and I catch it before I keep going wot I'll be OK. And u should too. Get the dp. Be safe. Have fun. Good luck.

ZENOISE, what about the walbro 400 the E85 version, I think some people call it a 450. I think that would be enough instead of a double. I did have that in mind if this 255 cant keep up, or even the treadstone 340. I heard it was a good pump. Either of those should flow more than the 255.

filter?

That thing in your picture isn't the filter it’s just the "fuel sock" or screen, it just keeps the big chunks out. The filter is up in the housing next to the pump.

That diagram doesn't list the sock separate from the pump. Does anyone know the part number for just the fuel sock?

My engine was lean above 5.5k rpm with a new Blaqops in tank kit on 93 octane just 2k miles after install. Replaced the pump with a DW300 last week. Didn't solve the problem.

Swapped the fuel regulator and the lean problem is gone ......... from lean to rich. There are no simple answers!

Its recommended that you change your sock a time or two after the switch to any high level ethanol...

I run the 450 "safely" at 600whp and on 1500cc injectors at 80-90%. If you think you can out flow a single 450 holy **** you own a monster...

I will say that if you get one don't run a hardwire kit... It has to much pressure and tears the grommet it seals to... If you want high voltage run the new dual voltage wiring setup from mrfreds thread

Interesting to hear this about this 450 pump. WhATS the price on one of these roughly? Also drop in or fabrication drop in? Whoever says the BR double Pumper is a straight drop in can Fecking suck it. Cause it ain't no puppy. Get ready to get angry putting one in. And I know tight spaces. As I have bigger hands and I put on the SS clutchine on my 8. any of u that have done that know exactly what I'm talking about. Suxxxxxx.

Lol I bought the new e85 walbro 450 or whatever and rewired it. It's getting me plenty of fuel and I'm at 440/390 on e85 mustang dyno

Here's my diy on the install
