Running with th p0304 code?

Running with th p0304 code?

Hi im looking to buy an evo i have found one that is like i want . The only bug it has the guys told me it have the p0304 code but the car is running great . He told me that he have change the injector and the coil but the code come back once and a while. Would you stay far from that car or new plugs and a tune could fix it? Thanks

you see that code means cylinder #4 misfire.new plugs,coil and plug wire should fix it.

Yes i know that it means misfire cyl 4 so nothing too dangerous if the guys have been running with cel for about a year he said mitsu check it a year ago and they said there was nothing wrong??

I'd check compression. This is an emissions test. EPA doesn't want you driving around with gas being dumped into the cylinder if the spark plug isn't firing. How, if the injector went bad you could have a burnt out cylinder.

Should fix it? Really? What if he buys the car and the problem is more serious than that? Valves, piston rings, etc? Do you always throw darts at cars or do you sometimes take the time to diagnose them properly?

it's always a risk buying the evo.what if trany or tcase on it's last leg but no cel?

I agree, it may be something as simple as ignition but could be valves also which can be costly. No way of really knowing unless you run a compression test or leak down.

Avoid the advice from those who would tell you to load the parts gun and pull the trigger or you'll be buying batteries, starters, injectors, coil/coil packs and end up using them as paper weights. If the guy can't have it fixed then leave it for some other poor sucker.
