gearstick movement in first

gearstick movement in first

I recently changed my clutch and put in a trq damper.. now when i put the car in first and start to move the gearstick moves back and forth almost looks like its going to pop out of gear... this has got me worried. any help on y this is happening and how to remedy it will be greatly appreciated thanks

It's your engine moving that is causing the gearstick to move...

are you sure the rest of your engine mounts are good?

What kind of clutch is it? Sometime a heavy clutch with harsh engagement can cause excess shifter movement on take off. Try taking off at a slightly higher rpm. I know sometimes when I bog from a start the shifter with jiggle a little. Go back and recheck your work would be first thing to do.

comp clutch stage 3.5 ... i checked all mounts and shift linkage everything is tight... im going to change the bushings and see if that helps

That sounds like the next logical step. When you say torque damper which mount are you refering to? Only reason I ask is if one mount is now super stiff and another is stock then that stock mount is going to move more because the other one is now flexing as much. Does it feel like the shifter is popping out if your grabbing it when you take off? I'm not really sure where else you could go after shifter base and linkage bushings.
