P0234 and P0507
P0234 and P0507
Scanned my car and these two codes came up..first one has something to do with the iac and the second one has to do with the Wastegate..I've already searched google and haven't found an answer..can anyone help me fix this? I don't know what to look for and i don't wanna spend money if i don't have to..this is for emission purposes
Ragyan...
P0234 is a wastegate system malfunction, and depending on how or if it's failed, you could over boost your turbo (that's bad).
1. Do you have a boost gauge? Does it appear to be reading normally?
2. The 2 components that can cause this code are:
A. The wastegate actuator (This can be inspected visually, and by using pressure)
B. The charging pressure control system (This needs to be checked with a voltmeter)
Honestly... I'm not too familiar with the proper technique of checking either. It could be as simple as a vacuum hose popping off (in my head it could anyhow).
P0507 is for your Idle Air Control System.
It could be as simple as a dirty IAC, throttle body, or simply a vacuum leak.
I would start by telling us what mods your car has, what, if anything was recently done, and I would do a PROPER, and thorough boost leak test. Fix any vac leaks, and clear the codes and report back.

I have a boost gauge and it reads fine..stays at 20 vac during idle and the usual 5-7 psi of
boost while driving normally..
My WGA looks good..doesn't look damaged at all..also my mbc goes like this, WGA to mbc, intake t fitting bov to mbc...im not sure if that makes a difference..i also dont have the stock boost solenoid either.
What is the charging pressure control system and how do i check for that?
Ill clean my TB this weekend and do some research on how to clean the IAC..thanks ProPilot
Also my car is not tuned at all and i don't do WOT pulls..in the process of getting a tune

Forgot to mention that my car holds 28 psi when i did my boost leak test..and the shop that did the test told me that i need to get me a new o2 housing gasket because i was using the oem one and also they told me that i had bad TB shaft seals..but if it was bad wouldn't i be under 28 psi during the boost leak test?
TB seals could be causing this. They commonly go bad on Evos, but you are correct... if you're checking the seals during the boost leak test, it wouldn't hold 28psi.
Do a quick search for how to check your TB seals. I'm about to head out... maybe someone else can chime in.

Wastegate code is coming up because the stock boost controller is unplugged(people do silly things when installing a mbc). Think about it; with an MBC, how would the computer know you have an mbc? Aha
