Evo 8 Mystery Noise Please Help!!!!

My evo 8 is making a very annoying grinding noise, in first gear from 2k RPM all way to 3.5K RPM with the clutch all the way out. It also does it when decelerating and leaving it in a gear. It comes from the drivers side of car. The car just got a new ACT racing clutch 900 miles ago, and I broke in the clutch for 500 miles. No launches on this new clutch. I know racing ACT clutches are loud, but this doesn't sound right. I brought it back to the shop and had two of the guys from the shop drive it, and one said its not the clutch just something rattling around in the engine bay, the other guy who drove it said he didn't hear a thing. I went home zip tided every thing down in the engine bay and it still makes the noise. The car has 51,000 miles on it and has had all its servicing, the car also only makes 300AWHP. I made a video to show it, you can notice it if you turn up your volume, listen for 1st gear. Please let me know what you think.

Its definitely drivetrain noise, and technically the only variable could be fluid. Yes the clutch is new but single plate clutches don't normally make a bunch of noise and if it were the clutch making the noise, it would make the noise in every gear in a specific range.

ok ill definitely check out the fluid, but does this noise mean the clutch is bad to drive?

That is very odd. At first I thought maybe the shifter linkage but read more and knew it wasn't that. Definitely find out about the trans fluid used. I really wanna know what this issue is. Good luck man.

Do you have a 6spd or 5spd? 75w85 is the oem weight fluid for a 6spd. If you have a 5spd; yesterday if possible change to the redline cocktail(2qts of MT-90 and 1 qt of MTL). Also it's worth asking what fluid they used in your tcase. If its anything but Mitsubishi diaqueen then you should change that aswell pretty soon. It's debatable to an extent but diaqueen is the absolutely only fluid that should be in the tcase.

sunday morning update. had to drive car this morning, letting it sit for a couple of days. 80% of noise has gone away. Car is going in to RRE for cams and a dual map for e85, so i am going to have the shop do a service and change all the fluids. Ill keep you guys updated

won't the clutch only make noise when you let off the gas if it is clutch related rattling? if you pump in neutral it shouldn't do anything right?
