Whew!!!! Just though I would share my extremely luck story. My auto tensioner took a crap, belt skipped 3 on the exhaust cam, 2 on the intake..... All is well. Miracles do happen!!

Very nice

3 teeth and not bending valves is no feat, it's the belt slipping and only going 3 teeth
You'd be surprised at how many retar...errr... people are 4-5 teeth off when they install the belt and are still bend free.

Good to hear you escaped some costly damage!

Also you'd be surprised how many people are 1-2 teeth off after a t-belt install and drive the car like this forever.. Lol they line it up on the cam sprockets and forget to crank the motor a couple times to see if everything lines back up afterwards.

That's good news.

But how did you know the tensioner took a crap, car just started running rough?
I just want to know? Also did you change the tensioner on the 60k or are you below that mileage?

You did a cylinder leak down test and got good leak down percentage?

Yeah, trust me I did thank my lucky stars, I'm at 79k and the car started idling rough and dying all the time one day. So I did some reading and found that when the cam angle senso is out of time it will do this. Check my cam gear marks and sure enough the Exhuast was off my 3 teeth, intake off by 2...... I was sweating lol. Tore it down to go ahead and do a full 60k and the auto tensioner was fully extended and leaking. I also believe the tensioner pulley was loose as well. But she's all good now. I was very worried, I read horror stories of skipping 1 tooth and bending all kinds of valves. Leak down and compression were spot on. Across all 4.

I would have the head checked out to make sure the valves arent bent. I threw a rod in my motor a few weeks ago. I pulled the had and then pulled the cams out to let the valve springs pull the valves into their seats. I noticed right away I had one valve bent in the cylinder my rod broke.

Took the head to a shop, they did some testing, the other 3 valves were leaking a bit too. Prolly still drive able but I dont want any leaks whatsoever.
