Listen to smuf, if your not around any well know, reputable evo shops, then spend the couple hundred bucks and ship your car there....spend an extra couple hundred upfront to possibly save you thousands in the long run

First, he recommends you buy 13:1 pistons from vaporware like ET. THEN he didn't know that you can have a company like Wiseco, Manley, etc build you custom parts? I'm with Smurf on this!

You would have better luck building it yourself than letting this "professional engine builder" build a motor for you. He may be nice and maybe knowledgeable but most likely have very little to know experience. Anyone can read a book but can they do what the book tells them to do perfectly?

Not even going to read all of this.

The vehicle you explained is not a daily driver, period.

DD=get in and drive anywhere (100's of miles) with zero worry about mechanical issues.

7hp/ci=race cars.

Race cars are not daily drivers....

It's more about high compression boosted motors. It's probably the compression ratio that sounded cool moreso then realistic.

I've found with these cars moreso then Honda's, Nissan's hell even domestics. There are so many quirks and gotchas that if you don't know evos inside and out then it could lead to catastrophe. A successful engine build isn't getting the car to turn over, making good numbers and getting the car out of the shop, it's building a motor that will last under whatever conditions the customer has specified.

Dealing with these cars is almost like dealing with a rotary to me. You gotta know them inside and out.

You current guy doesn't know what he's doing.

Don't even call him back. Just seek expertise elsewhere.

To give you an Idea, In one season I went through a transmission (it was already slightly hurt before car made more power) and I rebuilt it myself at the end of last season, then the beginning of this season I spun a rod bearing, so I put a new crank and rod in it with all new bearings, but I decided to reuse oil pump cause I was being cheap and it didn't look bad. After about 400 miles either I didn't get a piece of metal out of the pan or block because it ate an oil pump, and started leaking oil out of the seal, luckily I caught it while the oil level was still full, That happened last friday and that saturday I put a new side cover and oil pump in it and was back out making pulls that night. Right now everything seems fairly fresh and it's running and shifting really good even at high 9k+ shifts. That's my street driven evo 8 and I'm driving it to work tomorrow, but as much as I have the thing apart I like to stay within a fairly tight radius of Indianapolis. I remember saying I was gonna keep it a stock bolt on evo and just DD it, that idea worked well lol.

I ask to see why is the big difference ET, because I have pay also same billet pistons myself.

There is a big difference wiseco or any other brand with ET billet pistons.
All the other brands offer forged pistons and ET only 5 axis billet extruded pistons.

For example JE have same Subaru forged piston in 549$
http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/J...7-Pistons.html

And same Subaru piston in Billet 1300$ + 220$ coating = 1520$ and its not full billet 5 axis its semi finished billet with steel pins not even tool steel.

How can compare simple to billet pistons then?

Goodday

Tool steel upgrade is less than $80 bux. Everything else is not needed since all pistons will warp with extreme boost. You are spending extra money on Fairy Stories and Unicorns. I am Greek and I approve this message

ET nut swinger please give it up. No one is buying what you or ET is selling. If you want to help ET then ship a set of pistons to CBRD to let them independantly review them.

Despite my bashing then I will listen to what they have to say.

Beyond that, you are just derailing this thread.

My 11:8cr Extreme Tuners pistons,i also run 61mm et turbo, exh manifold, complete head whit cams, non hydrolic etc.Works very well. Not gonna go in to any arguments etc but why hate and talk trash when u havent seen or held/tested the parts?
Why be the same stuff and design etc from 10 years ago when u can design like modern motorsport if u got the knowledge contacts and machine shop.

^^^ No one is selling the same designs from 10 years ago. All companies spend more money than ET to update Piston design, silicone content etc on all pistons. What everyone is saying is, that ET has not produced any results yet, and in addition, it seems they shafted a few people on parts. I am willing to run a set of pistons as an unbiased person to give the results.

I have made a couple of custom design pistons that i still run in my car, but it seems the $1100 pistons I have, have the same result as the $600 pistons on Gas VP import. Only when you run alky etc will you need a better design, and in addition, I am i Greece and I saw what is called a "700 WHP car" Oh boy
