Several new articles posted on the site since I have last updated this thread. The newest one explains several different methods of keeping your compressed air dry.

I have several articles planned out but I want your guys input on what kind of article that would really help you out. Basically let me know what topic you would like me to cover next.

The articles in planning are:

Defect Center: I will take pictures of every kind of defect you will encounter while powder coating, and let you know what it is and how to correct it.

Air compressor plumbing around the garage

Multi-coats: how to properly do 2 or more coats.

Lol, I don't know how you can stand the anticipation. When I got my first gun, I didn't even have an oven yet, I just had to try it out so I bought some local harbor freight powder and coated some spoons and forks and baked them in my propane grill. Surprisingly, it worked great.

Start playing around with some junk metal stuff and you'll soon be addicted

Thanks, glad you enjoy the powder coating site. I'll always have my VR-4, it has a special place in my heart. I just want to point out that it isn't a dsm, not to argue or anything, I just like clearing up misinformation about them. 3000gt's are 100% Mitsubishi and were made in Nagoya, Japan, even the Dodge Stealths were made in Japan. All of the DSM's were made in the US in Illinois.

Good info on the grounding rod. My cheap gun sucked when i tried to do a top coat. I could never get it to stick. I’m for sure going with a rod set up. Should i use the alligator clip also that came with the gun or just let it hang? Also what if I ran the wire to multiple hooks to use on the same part, would there be any benefit?

Good info thanks for sharing as always.

Do you think i can coat my stock motor mounts with the rubber in them? I don’t think they will melt or anything. Has anyone done this? Mine are looking dull so I think I am going to try it on the belt side mount first.

Just toss the alligator clip o the side, once you have the grounding rod setup, that is all you need. I haven't personally tried it, but from what I have heard from people that have done it, is there was no noticeable difference. The biggest thing when shooting the top coat is to make sure that where it is hanging from the hook is bare metal. A rounded file to the inside of a hole removes the powder quickly and would hardly be noticeable when finished.

I would not coat them with the rubber inserted, it will likely melt, and if it doesn't, it could seriously degrade the rubber. I would just call a local shop and ask if they have a press. They shouldn't charge much to remove and re-install them. You will just have to make 2 trips.
