Having the license plate in the trunk instead of the bumer makes it look like a Honda Civic in the back...

I am not lying son.

It will look SIMILAR not exactly. Even If I MADE it up it is still fair to say the evo will share the look of the BABY LANCERS!!!

The EVO IS BASED ON THE LANCER RIGHT???

More to the point, forget if the IX looks better or worse than the current car. Just the fact that Mitsu is deciding to carry on with the Evo during a time of financial nightmares for the company is a good sign. Appreciate every Evo we get, because always lurking around the corner is the decision making of Diamler Chrysler to make the Evo appeal to more ofthe masses, in other words toning it down and giving it a V-6. (This has been noted before)

Every time talk of a redesign of a current model car comes out, current owners feel threatened and are defensive and critique its design. Then when they hit the streets, most warm up to the new looks. It's too early to know for sure. hell, we don't even know if the Evo will continue to be sold here after '04.

With the huge aftermarket for our Evos and bodykits, I'm sure everyone will find what they want. I'm putting too much into the 8 right now that i have no intention of losing my money invested into modding and depreciation for a new bodystyle. The 8 will go down as the first U.S. Evo and is the real deal. Who know how they will water down the next gen especially with EPA standards changing. Look what happened to the muscle cars of the '70s.
I agree 100%

When the new electric or hydrogen powered EVO comes out I will be glad to have the GAS version for the weekends!

The Evo has always been based on the Lancer. The 7/8 based on the Lancer Cedia, and the the 4/5/6 based on the Lancer (known as the Mirage here).

Notice the similarities yet?

i think the front end on that magazine shot, the real life photo, looks hot, i think blacked out or blacked out projector headlights would look SICK, and btw in the drawing of the 9 it kinda looks like the taillights are blacked out, but that could just be me. btw the trunk kinda looks like an evo5 trunk, what's so wrong with that?

I seriously doubt that the Evo IX will be sharing the platform with the next Neon. It's way to expensive a platform to manufacture in comparison with the Neon. Daimler Chrysler does not want to loose more money yet.

The only thing you might have to worry about in longer run is Evos with Neon platforms (aargh), especially as there is some word about different directions for US and the rest of the world down the road - just think how prized and Evo VIII be then

I don't think Daimler Chrysler is going to touch the Evo, it wouldn't be good for business and it'd just **** off a lot of people who know what the REAL Car is and Does. Plus you think they'd honestly destroy something that's was named Car of the Year?

That trunk is the mid 90s Accord trunk, it's not civic. Not that it matters.

It's not horrible but it definitely is bordering on mainstream design instead of Evolution.

Mitsubishi has thier financial difficulties and even though the Evo was a highlight for them doesn't mean it can save or really help them. It's a $30,000 car that doesn't share the same fevered sales that many other unique cars have. You can still buy one today for less then MSRP. If only 5000 came over here and there are how many people in the US? I don't think the 9 will ever come. Unless the figure out how to revive themselves as a whole I think the car will be dropped. (at least in the US where they have all the requirements to reach).
Who ever drew that picture is just guessing. This is an Evo and given the current design of the WRC car you can at least expect something on the rear wing to look like the WRC. I would be suprised to see the more radical body side design, albeit the wheels would still receive coverage like a road going car.

Lightsped, How much for one of those?

V was a mild adaptation of the IV

VI was a mild adaptation of the V

VII was new (that's what I have )

VIII was a mild adaptation of the VII

I see a pattern forming here

I'd bet the IX will be just mild changes from the VIII.. Reports are coming in though that the X is most likely going to be the last iteration or stage in the Evolution. Signs are pointing towards a smaller lighter chassis.. So far though each iteration has been better, as longs as that continues, it's all good.

You know the artist sketch looks like it was worked over by the Fab 5.. I wonder how the interior was decorated..
