ac delete belt
ac delete belt
noob question since ive just got the car
so its getting close to the fall where i dont need my ac anymore
so can i run the ac delete belt without taking the ac unit out so when it hits summer again i can just put on the regular belt again.
I read alot about other evo owners taking their whole unit out but none to answer my question
Thanks

theres really no point in replacing just the belt to get rid of a/c for the winter, just to put the other one back on next summer. ppl who remove the units do so because of weight reduction, not because they dont want a/c for the winter.
yes, you can run it with the RS accessory belt, but again, whats the point of doing it just for the winter to put the regular one back on next spring

with the a/c compressor off the a/c pulley free wheels and shouldn't have any effect. it should be the same as bypassing the a/c with a delete belt. Yes you can bypass the a/c with it still bolted on, shouldn't be a problem. BUT, unless the compressor pulley is seizing, no point imo
Theres a few threads on here that have the part numbers for the napa belt. I posted in a few of them but I don't have that number off the top of my head. Napa had plenty in stock, Im sure most auto parts stores will. I guess maybe your bad luck is maybe that in certain regions, certain stores may not get same inventory though, idk.
Its pointless to do unless your either diagnosing a concern or removing the compressor along with it.
I removed all the A/C components from my Evo and used this belt: http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co...moval_belt.htm

I am an old school Honda guy from the mid 90's and run the shorter a/c bypass belt just for the heck of it. At the very least the belt has one less pulley (a/c compressor pulley) to spin.
I can swap belts back and forth in less than 15-20 minutes, so its no biggie for me. I also get about 300 miles per tankful of mostly highway with some local driving.

The benefit of spinning the motor with one less pulley is in the reduction of the internal friction torque. having said that, unless you are chasing every ounce of fuel saving then it would be tough to quantify.
