Weapon-r intake

I just bought a weapon-r intake and have installed it many times on my Evo 8. Once installed after a drive and going to a stop, the idling drops to 0 then about a sec to two secs the idling will jump back up. I am not sure what the problem really is. I have searched for answers over and over and no answer yet. There is no vacuum leaks or anything. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the ecu or tuning. Ever since the install I got a CEL of bank 1 system running too rich. I turned off CEL and tried reinstalling the intake but still running into same problem. I contacted weapon-r and all I get was its the vacuum lines, which now I have the stock pipe on with the filter and it runs perfectly fine. I really want to put the new pipe in but not sure what to do.

Leave the stock pipe on. Intake is skewing the maf readings and making it idle for ****.

Nothing new here. 2 options

1. Scale the MAF properly for intake.

2. Leave the stock intake tube on and enjoy your car, throw that POS in the garbage or sell it if you're lucky

Hope that helps

I had some issues with my aem intake and I ended up selling it and going back to the stock pipe with the speed element filter which has the studs so you can by the maf right to the filter without any adapter plates.

Weapon-R still makes parts for cars?

And people still buy them. If you must have a Air Intake then wait until you make a meaningful upgrade (like an exhaust or uprated Intercooler) and get a proper tune.

Look into Perrin if you want a good intake.

Thanks all for the input. As of right now I do have the stock pipe on with the filter and it runs perfectly fine. I feel like there's no difference to it at all.

The only difference will really come once you get other mods to support the need for the intake.

A good tune is also required for the "better" airflow!

Since I am not a person who loves to tune and mod cars, I only bought the intake to replace my broken stock intake box and just curious about the difference of having the filter in. Thanks again.

The MAF on the Evo doesn't like hard intake pipes. I went with a silicone tube intake and have no issues. You can use your stock intake tube and just get a MAF adapter that allows an aftermarket air filter.

I have an hks intake on my Evo 9 and I have no idle issues at all. I've also read that hks is really the only intake to give some good gains (don't quote me on that), but besides a drop in filter I've heard this is the best route to go.

But for your issue, seems like the maf readings are screwed up like said above. If you get the car tunned put the weapon r pipe in the day of tuning and they will resolve the idle issue.
