is this 05 evo worth getting? (pic included)
I would offer around $20k. Dealers are notorious for jacking prices extremely high on these type of cars. Two years back I was going to buy my buddies 06 STi making 400whp (super clean) for $14,500. I ended up not doing, and he sold it to the dealer for $15,500. Two weeks later, the dealer was selling it for $24,000 and got away with it. Just be careful.
I see a megan (or other crap brand) manifold and vta bov. The manifold will crack, if it hasn't already and the bov installed as is will cause the car to run crappy. These aren't signs of a favorable previous owner. All the mods I can see from the pics suggest an "inexpensive" route was taken to "improve" the performance of the car. If I were to wager a guess, you will be spending a decent amount of money fixing the last guy's mistakes/neglect with this car. Maybe he sold it because it was time to replace the clutch or timing belt or it needed an oil change or air in a tire, and he wasn't quite sure how to get it done without buying a part off ebay.
In all seriousness, the price is very high. I understand the whole Hawaii thing is going to increase the going rate, but this one is about 8-9k over what I would expect to see it sell for mainland. And that's IF the motor itself is in good running order. The crappy mods can be fixed, but I would be suspicious of maintenance neglect. On the other hand, the poor choice in mods can possibly be used as a bargaining chip to reduce the asking price...good luck

DONT DO IT! way to much. And by the looks of it, it COULD or COULD NOT be tuned. Especially because it has a vented RFL BOV on it. And if im not mistaken, the previous owners were selling it on CL for a while for 18g's -_-.
On FB look up "808evo" Join the group and ask away on all the questions you have about hawaii. FYI we do no have smog here. We do though have SAFTEY CHECKS which is bull sh*t
Seems like a high price for a high mileage evo. I paid $15k for my first evo that had 45k miles. After I installed the new clutch it was $17k out the door. Just sayin, there are much better deals to be had so unless your heart is screaming at you to buy the car (which I assume it's not because you just posted it on a forum) don't buy it.
Price seems high for a VIII. Guess dealers are able to sell these cars at high prices without too much issue if they can get away with it. Almost bought a similar Evo from a small dealer in Texas, think it had around 55k miles and they were asking $19/20k for it, which was close to what a private seller probably could've got for it.
even if you are in hawaii, have you thought of buying off the coast and having it shipped to hawaii? you'd probably save a few grand that way and still get ~roughly same quality.
