It's a broad question, but that's the short block used to build a 2.4L for an Evo. Don't get the long block. You'd want to put an Evo head on it.

If for some reason you wanted a SOHC in your Evo then I'm sure it's possible, but why?

Edit: I believe you want a 2000 and up 4g64 block as the earlier ones are reversed.

no lol i was going to use the shortblock and sell the head to an eclipse user or something, would i have to put new pistons and rods in the 4g64 or could i just put my evo head on there?

edit: sure seems alot cheaper than trying to buy a built 4g63

I would just go with a 2.4 from MAP or ER. That way you know it's built correctly and you're not second guessing some fly by night mechanic.

For that price I'm sure they are OEM or OEM replacement pistons and rods. I suppose it's possible to use the OEM pistons and rods, but I'd change them out for forged. Get the crank and block inspected too.

I haven't done the math, but I think it would be cheaper to buy a 4g64 block and build it. That's what I'm doing. I got a complete 4g64 short block for $100. I'm sure you can find a bare block (maybe with a good crank) for $100-300.

I agree, but these guys apparently have been around for 18 years doing this. Don't know if they are good or not, but not fly by night. Wish I had their facility

From their description:
We have been in auto engines and parts business for more than 18 years. We import high quality engine parts directly from manufactures. In addition, we have a first-class machine shop in our 15,000 square feet facilities for all rebuilt cylinder heads, short blocks and engines. We offer the best prices and best quality auto engine parts on E-bay. We have over 7000 items of engine parts in stock and ready to ship.

Earlier 4G63/4 motors (1G&2G, Evo 1-3) were reversed. You want a block from a 8G Galant (I believe that's the gen - it coincided with the 3G Eclipse), a 3G Eclipse, 2000+ Stratus/Sebring coupe, I believe recalling some Endeavors having the 4G64 but I can't confirm that for sure at the moment. Might be possible for a G4JS short block to work as well? I know the head bolts on to the 4G64 so it might be worth looking into.
