Help! Dash lights off when headlights on and on when headlights off
Hello!
Just curious if anyone knows how to fix this issue I am having. Today after messing with my tactrix cable and getting a tune done on the car I noticed later on when it was dark when I went to turn my headlights on all a sudden my dash lights are off. Thinking it could be a blown fuse but then I noticed when I turned the headlights off the dash lights work. Somehow they swapped positions I think. Anyone know how to fix it? Gonna check fuses tomorrow when its daylight.
Car: 2005 Evo RS
FIXED!:
1) A tail light went out also so I replaced the bulbs and still nothing. So I checked the fuses on the fuse box. The 2 7.5a fuses are for the tails I believe. So I removed 1 and I had 1 working tail light and all a sudden now my dash lights are working again to! So I swapped the working fuse to the other side and the other tail worked. So in the end it was just replacing the 7.5a fuse.

Just had this problem. Turned out that my dimmer switch was unplugged. Plugged it back in, and everything works perfect now. If yours is still plugged in, unplug, replug and see if that works. If that doesn't, swap the dimmer switch, because yours may be dead. You can find them used in the market place for about 10 bucks.
Had this same problem 2 hours ago. Soo weird.. Turns out I left my dimmer switch and headlight leveling plugs unplugged after I installed my AEM boost gauge.
Start there make sure your plugs are plugged in...

Where is this switch located. My dimmer switch doesn't work so this is probably it. you guys are awesome! I flipped the dimmer down and checked the connection in the front it and was still connected. Where underneath roughly will I be looking?

So if I checked that plug its something else? I popped the dimmer console cover down and that piece was still plugged in so I unplugged it and replugged. If thats not the problem whats my next thing to look for?
I had this exact problem op and oddly enough it was on my 04 RS too. Maybe it's an rs thing? Anyway I noticed it happened after I replaced my ECM (electrical control module) or front ECU in the engine bay fuse box. I also installed defi gauges so if you have gauges you may wana look into what you spliced those into, Anyway before I could solve the issue..well that evo is no longer with us. I'm still curious to this day why it happened. I'd love to know tho. Hope my experience helped you out also what other electrical mods have you installed?

I hooked up a A/F cable and grounded it under the dash on the passengers side and hooked up my tactrix cable and connected my headunit back up. Somewhere between those 3 something happened. still not fixed yet. Gonna go look more tomorrow.
