I got my IX SE for $21,000. It has 70k miles but Only had previous owner. Basically stock except for a turbo back. And all maintenance had been done by English Racing.

Value of our cars now that productions has come to an end?

Should we expect to see a big value increase like with the supra? Curious on your thoughts.

Well, I bought a 2011 RX-8, and the value of that absolutely TANKED after they stopped production. Hopefully that won't happen to the Evo which is a MUCH more popular car. It won't get to Supra levels of lunacy, though.

comparing an evo to rx8 is like comparing apples to oranges, oranges suck.

I'm sorry but he's right. An rx8? The evo has a cult following. It's a classic in motorsports. I think the value is gonna hold strong, not supra like and skyrocket but I see it holding strong possibly increasing a little.

If I were offered $80K I would say no. I can't say it is rational. Some people just don't want to part with their Evos.

Think this is the first car that I've owned that I put 30K on since 2010... and it went up in value. Love the IX and can't fathom letting it go.

I've changed my mind a bit on this topic since the Evo is all but dead. If they don't make anymore of them I do think the prices will go up......especially for VIII\IX's.

I'm in a situation where moving on to another platform would be a little irresponsible financially so I'm gladly staying put.

What someone will pay for truly dictates the market. Look at home prices in San Diego (In nice places like La Jolla), New York City, Vancouver or Toronto. People started paying ridiculous prices for Condos and homes and now the market is completely upside down. It happened with with RX-7 and Supra. While I'm skeptical that Evo will get to the same insane heights as those car platforms I would say it has a good chance for the following reasons.

1) Near bulletproof motor after being built. The Supra was capable of more power before building it but the RX-7 was finicky at best and temperamental at worst. Even with building the motor it was a rebuild waiting to happen.

2) Out of production. This is the key element that helps the Evo get to that point the RX-7/Supra got to. Once it went out of production here the only thing left to do is buy a used one......and if you want it that bad you will pay.

3) RX-7 Production run: 13,000+ Supra Production run: 11,000+ Evo VIII/IX Production run: 16,000+ Even though there are more Evo's that were made in comparison to the other 2 benchmarks I'm encouraged by this because the cost of entry for the evo was fairly low compared to the other 2 models. And the used market tanked for the Evo a few years ago and people were damn near giving them away. After some of the younger kids come in and ruin the cheaper models or write them off I think it will leave even less decent examples around thus helping the rest of us with clean examples.

Keep in mind this is relative. The Evo IX averaged about 33-38k brand new vs the RX7 and Supra fetching about 40-50k before it was killed (Is the X now about 40k now for a MR SST?) so if the used market for a clean Evo IX stays around 20k (and I believe that has been happening) then you can say the resale value for the car is already approaching that status.

Case in point RX-7's got all the way down to a 3rd of their asking price brand new (10-13k) and went back up to the 20's (I havent checked in a while to see if they keep going up). When looked at against the context of the production brand new price (and doing the same with the supra)........you'll see the Evo isn't that far off.

Let me also add that while the Supra was definently in a class by itself a 4 door sedan that is AWD, turboed and has a fairly strong block puts the evo above an RX-7 in my book.

I agree with a lot of you on here. The market dictates what these cars go for, not KBB or NADA. NADA says a 97 TT 6-speed Supra should go for $27,300... Haha! Good luck with that! I don't think the Evo will ever reach the Supra's level. A certain movie in the early 2000's made the Supra iconic to a certain level. Everyone had to have a Supra, making things tough for a guys like me who loved that car well before that movie was a thought.

As a proud IX owner, I think mid to upper 20's for a low-mileage, lightly modified example is fair. Just my humble opinion.

I agree it's all about the market.. Not what some blue book says. So if the demand is there for it the price will stay if demand goes away it will drop. Ultimately it's worth what people are willing to pay.. My opion though is the Evo ix is going to be the highest priced Evo and hold the best value of the 3 mostly because it had the lowest production compared to the others. Plus the demand is high. I agree with others that I don't see them shooting up in value but I do see the holding value well.
