first, none of those are IXs. second: two are the same car. third: cars with rebuilt engines typically sell for less unless well-documented.

Kudos for those listings. Wish I lived closer, I'm all the way out in the mountain west area. However, we were referring to IX not VIII pricing.

I actually prefer the VIII because they usually cost 3-4K less than a IX

That be funny, and creepy if we all just document this car and post pictures of it on the internet for no real reason. And then maybe one day the owner of the car would find like random pics of his car just floating in Google Images.

i think the VIII is more of a bargain than a IX. MIVEC is great and really helps low end and midrange torque, but it's not necessary. ACD is cool under very specific situations... but most of us are never in them LOL. the IX turbo is a simple swap away. if you don't like the VIII's blue seats, they can be swapped. don't like the front bumper? swap.
my only issue is that the VIII has an open front diff. that i don't like because i use my car for motorsports events. but if you aren't trying to race the car? who really cares?

Is it just me or are the prices in the for sale section of the forum not looking too impressive for 9s lately

Not all VIIIs are in that position. The true bargains are the 05 evos, with ACD and same front diff as IX. Only thing it doesn't have is mivec and IX turbo. Yet thousands of $$ less.

The car is now 10 years old. Parts production are now going to be phased out. Theres not much aftermarket interest in VIII or IX. These kind of things are inevitable, the cars will eventually depreciate and bottom out. The few diehards will keep holding on to their pristine examples, and maybe one day it might become a collector like the e30 bimmers. But theres no guarantee there.

^not much aftermarket interest in the 8/9? do you live on mars? it's like aftermarket golden age since I got my first evo with the exception of ams and buschur slowing down but still make alot.

I noticed the same thing, but I also noticed it's just on the forums. I guess they price them lower here because the buyers are either too cheap or too picky. An ix going for 22k on Evom will be like 30k+ on autotrader lol. there is no doubt the ix still holds it's value the best. Ten year old car or not they are only getting more rare. That actually brings the desire higher for low mileage ix's. I know most of my car buddies prefer the ct9a over the X any day and would pay more for one.

I've personally seen development of new ct9a aftermarket parts slow to a crawl. The last new thing I can recall is the CBRD vband efr RBX kit, and even then it took a lot of begging on another thread for them to commit to a twin scroll version. They had the vband and twin scroll cz4a RBX kit for a while and with multiple dyno plots with many of their customers. Then look at what people are building, like chetrickerman. Not many people doing that with ct9as on here any more. Even scoring parts.....lucky I hoarded so many ct9a parts from back when it was way cheaper. Did you know IX BBS wheels used to go for $400? IX headlights for $500? OEM mint brembos for $600? That was the day to day price, not lowballs. Check their prices now. Golden age is gone, its really with the evo x (for now) my friend.

You also live in Canada, where ct9as were never sold and there are maybe 200 to 500 in the country. In the states they're not treated like unicorns.

Interesting. 2 years ago when I was torn between an Evo and an STi (GD chassis), the STis were much cheaper than Evos.
