I've just always heard here that a slight overfill means more oil to dissipate the heat generated inside the tcase/tranny/diff, thus helping to keep them happy. A normal fill is fine as long as you make sure it's actually full and doesn't just need a few minutes to seep down through the tcase before being able to add more oil.
