Please talk me out of this

So, as you can see from my signature, I have a habit of selling my Evo only to end up coming back and buying another one. I'm in the market for something fun to drive just as a toy. No need for it to be a DD. No need for reliability or practicality. No need to consider driving in winter weather, the worst we see in my area is occasional rain.

For some reason I'm drawn back to the Evo again. My better half has agreed with a 20k max budget and is nudging me towards an e46 m3 or a c6 base corvette. But there is an Evo VIII in my area for 12k with high mileage that I'm itching to buy as a project car, even though I don't need the AWD or the 4 doors or back set or the trunk space.

I know I'm probably asking the exact wrong group of people here, but someone talk me out of jumping back into my love hate relationship with these cars.

S2K with suspension and a turbo kit.

ooorrrr get another evo and turn it into a baddass street/track car. It might be a love hate relationship but when it works...it works good!

This is the equivalent of asking a drug dealer to talk you out of doing drugs

Funny you say that, I actually test drove an AP1 yesterday along with that Evo VIII. Its high revving motor and convertible were nice but I would definitely need to go forced induction. The only problem with that route would be the endless ridicule from my wife for being 6'4" and driving a "stuart little car".

I'd only be looking at an evo or the e46. Not many cars compare as an overall package to an evo though.
