Intercooler piping

I know this might be a noob question but I am really curious to as changing the piping to my intercooler. My evo 8 is all stock nothing much to it yet But I want to change the piping to my intercooler and am not sure how to come about it. I found a thread on it but still not sure if its safe to change the lower piping or do I have to change both the upper and lower. And also another question is, does it really make a difference for me if I was to change my under the hood shifters? Any suggestions and thoughts would be awesome and thanks in advance.

You could change the piping out, but you'd need to get tuned afterwards. The only real mod you can do without a tune is an exhaust. What's your reasoning for wanting to change out the piping right away? Consider putting a set of silicone hoses to replace the soft stock couplers instead, you wont need to get retuned, they won't flex under boost, and aesthetically they will be nicer, which I'm assuming is your main concern right now.

As for the shifter, are you talking about the shifter bushings? Yes, if you want, you can replace those with solid bushings anytime. It will make the shifter feel a little more crisp.

You don't really need a tune after you replace your pipes do you

i switched my pipes, injen upper, and ETS lower, the LICP is where you mainly notice the difference at. but i changed both those pipes and my intake and my fuel mileage turned a little sour, thats mainly because of the intake taking in more then it was mapped to and its feeding more fuel to try and fix it. if youre just doing IC pipes i dont really think there much of a need for a retune. after intake though, yes definitely

i just put a full ets intercooler kit on my car with 3.5 core and stock piping and my tuner said you can run without a tune it wont hurt the car, you may just run more rich than you did before the install but a tune is recommend

Lets save you some cash, buy a lower ICP and thats all, buy a good one and your fine.
If you want to change the underhood bushings, its a good upgrade and yes you should notice a difference.. NO, you dont need a tune after these. You not going to run richher either--all you did with the lower IC is smooth the transition and maybe have a larger pipe depending on vender--but you have other restriction limiting volume--add a few more parts then get your tune and do it once. Hell, buy yourself an intake and exhaust---then get the tune and you good to go.

An aftermarket lower intercooler pipe will show a small increase in performance, due to the factory pipe diameter necks down; making it smaller than aftermarket LICP's. You will see no performance change if you replace the upper pipe; changing it would pretty much just be for looks only. I do recommend the underhood shifter bushing kit, and the shifter base bushing kit. I like the feel of the solid shifter bushings.

Thanks to all who posted a message. I am please with the responses I'm getting. So to make sure. I only have a stock evo 8. I am planning to change the intercooler piping and if there is no tune required then all is well. But yes most definitely I am looking forward to changing my shifter bushings. Thanks again.
