Stock Tcase vs Shep question

I have an 05 gsr with 127k, acd pump just replaced and it got me thinking. Should I send me tcase out for it to be built before it breaks? Or don't fix what's not broken. Iv been looking through the forums and Tcase problems almost seem similar to crank walk, kind of blown out of proportion or due to beatings/wrong fluid....

If it has alot of miles you migth want to do the basic shep treatment just in case to not have to worry about it but my tcase is from a buddy's 8.5 and its still stock....been working fine. Thsi is on a car making 600-700+ plus

What are your plans for the car? If you do send for a shep rebuild might want to consider thinking of doing a cluch as the t case is already out

Your best bet is to actually call John at shep and speak with him. The most expensive part of the rebuild, is fixing the broken parts. He'll be honest with you.

I dono man. If you don't launch the car you have nothing to worry about. These t cases can handle power fine they just go when people abuse them, unfortunately you would have no clue how previous owners took care of the car.

don't fix what aint broke. Plus, from reading reviews about Shep on here, when you get it back it may end up broken.

Taking the transfer case out has nothing to do with the clutch. The TC comes out without having to drop the transmission.

i didn't exactly abuse my car... stopped launching it years ago... but either my tcase or rear diff started whining... even shep couldnt tell which... so i setn em both to shep and they found my diff carrier had cracked... its not hard to open it up and look yourself... take it off and take off the cover.. you'll be able to see if its damaged...

Pretty funny considering shep has got a great reputation when it comes to rebuilding transfer cases. Think about how many he rebuilds and how many complaints im willing to bet some money that its under 2%. Guy has a good reputation in the mitsu and GTR community for a reason, and its quality work.

Think your comment was pretty off but thats just me .

There have been a few people have had bad experiences.

I've had to deal with 3 times....turn around time was my only issue. I've been told if you send your transmission to them (even if the transmission seems fine) it will be about 2k no matter what.

Not a transmission guru so I have no clue how accurate that is but I do find it interesting.

All that being said they do good work. I've never been disappointed.
