Noise in my E4.

Unhappy Noise in my E4.

Hey

So I've got this noise that sounds like a fast tick.. but it only happens when I let go of the gas (while driving or if I rev the engine while idling it will make the noise when the revs drop back down), if I touch the gas pedal in anyway the noise goes away. Also if I engage the clutch while driving the noise goes away but if I engage the clutch when the car is not moving the noise does not go away.. Any advice on this problem would be much appreciated.

Sounds like it could be an exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold gasket. rev the throttle by had and give a listen. Did you tighten the nuts inside to outside?

I was leaning towards TOB. The clutch pedal does have a little bit of vibration aswell is that normal though?

Where in NZ are you? I could have a look at it if you're near Hamilton.

A bad TOB would normally make noise when you engage the clutch and it is usually a chirping/squealing sound.

Possibly a loose or broken mount or a bad input shaft bearing. Those are my best guesses.

Hey guys, sorry about the late reply but it turned out to be the waste gate valves rattling around making the noise when they were not under boost. It runs and sounds mint now.
