Hi all, I keep getting weird noise when starting the car up. I found a video on youtube with the same noise I'm having.

Not sure what it could be but any help would be appreciate it

When was the timing belt last replaced?

If you had it changed within service intervals, was the timing belt tensioner replaced also?

sounds like a belt. does the noise increase if you raise the rpm. my serpentine belt sounded pretty similar to that and i replaced it and fixed the issue.

belt tension too tight imo. anyway, i hope your BOV isn't like the one in the video. it looks backwards.

My Evo 9 made a noise VERY similar to this (slightly longer intervals between the noise)

The balancer shaft tensioner pulley failed (had sprayed all of it's bearing lube around the area and didn't spin easily) and the belt had become pretty loose as well. I bought a timing belt kit and replaced everything, pulleys and belts, and the problem was resolved.

Bump for any info on the noise (this is not the normal IX timing belt noise that is fixed with bracket)

Timing belt interval is 60K or 60 months. Now, I put on enough miles on my Evo to where time is never a factor. So, I don't have experience with the Evo being over on time. However, I found that my wife's WRX was overdue on time for a timing belt job and did one. Well, it was a good thing I did, I found some problems.
