PO335 code
So I just got this PO335 code on my Evo 8 tonight. I feel like my starter has been going I had to tap it a few times to get it running. Could that be why the code is coming up?
P0335 No Crankshaft Reference Signal at EFI ECU
this is the code that Evoscan gave me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i broke my cam sensor on my evo installing an exhaust manifold, replaced with one from Advance Auto, car started and ran perfectly fine every time, just had a check engine light ,p0335 p0340 (cam signal reference), a few months later i bit the bullet and bought a new cam sensor from Mitsu., no CEL since, and thats been over 2 years ago, not saying you dont have another issue, but a cam senor can cause a crank sensor code

Been having what seems like a starter issue where I turn the key but it it doesn't crank/turn over, just a whine. It's been intermittent for the past 2 months, but this last time I held the key over for long than i usually do, & thats when I got the CEL. Checked it with a scan tool & got the P0335. I cleared it and it seemed to've gone away, but we'll see if it happens again or what.
Anyone have any ideas?

When this happened to me, the car eventually just wouldn't start at all. I switched out the starter, wouldn't start. Started getting a crank position sensor CEL which might be the P0335 I don't remember. It would start but light wouldn't go off. Finally ended up changing the battery out, somehow I must have had a dead cell or something but the sensor wasn't getting the voltage it needed and causing the CEL.

Side note I forgot in the previous comment. After I changed out the starter, I also changed out the crank position sensor, that's when it started and the CEL wouldn't go off. Lastly was the battery swap and it was all good. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info OP. I'm getting this code but no CEL. Comes up in EvoScan, I cleared it and it came back eventually. I think its actually my CPS because it misfires on startup and runs lean - has also acted up while driving, its an intermittent issue... Going to try replacing Crankshaft Position Sensor first, then Camshaft Position Sensor, then battery if it still persists. Battery is somewhat new, but its a Duralast.. Left it sitting for a week and a half and it was dead, had to jump it. How hard was it to change the CPS? Putting it off atm..

So its tedious but not horrible. Someone can very happily chime in on a better way to do it. This was like 4-5 years ago, so my memory might be foggy. What I recall I had to remove the timing belt cover, and a pulley(don't remember which one) I do remember it was towards the bottom of the motor, I had to pull out the passenger side motor mount to get the bolt below part of the frame to remove it. From there I was able to get to the sensor. Once I unscrewed the sensor (it runs behind your timing belt) I cut off the old ones end to slip just the cable out past the timing belt. Remember where it runs so you can properly run the new one. Since I don't know how to set timing and didn't want to mess with mine. I had to take a screw driver (would work better if I had a pry bar or something) to slightly make an opening between the timing belt and motor. Make sure you arnt hitting the sharp edges on the belt and slip in the connector or the sensor itself through it. That part is a pain in the a** and the hardest thing I ran into. Once you get it between the belt and motor its a simple put everything back together. I did have to have a friend push down on the passenger side of the motor once the motor mount was removed to get that pulley bolt out. I do not remember if it was the belt cover or where the cable ran that led me to taking that pulley off. It took 2 hours or so and isn't bad. The sensor wire runs off the left side of the valve cover forward so its pretty easy to trace. Let me know how it goes and if you find an easier way to do it! best of like man!
