Evo IV/V/VI - 5th Gen Mirage Sedan Headlamp compatability

Sup evom, new here, been lurking a bit, did a search and couldnt really find any good info on what I need.

Basically, I'm looking to to import an Evo IV/V/VI from Japan. However, where I live, to get the car registered you need to have DOT approved headlamps. The whole assembly needs to have the marking on it.

After a bit of searching it seems as though the word-of-mouth solution is to get your hands on some USDM mirage sedan headlamps and swap them into your evo. But i've only ever seen people suggest this for evo IV-VI. While the IV-VI are based on the 5th gen Mirage chassis, it does make sense and the actual lamps do look identical in photos. But still, i've never seen anyone do it.

So I browsed a couple auto part shop sites and actually found some 5th gen mirage sedan headlamps, for cheap too.

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...parttype=10762

So does anyone have experience or knowledge with this specific thing? Will these actually fit in any of the IV/V/VI without extensive modification?

The evo4-6 headlights are the same as the base lancer/mirage, IE they are ****. So yep, grab some off the base lancer/mirage and go nuts.

However the evo5-6 used the facelift version headlights which are more rectangle, do an image search and you'll see.

Great! I appreciate the response. They might be **** but they are cheap! Any recommendations for something aftermarket? Not looking to spend more than ~150CAD/side though.

I've seen people fit those one piece headlights, just having to cut out some of the guard support bracket around the indicator area.

Seems a bit rough to me though so i've stayed with the factory stuff but fitted one of those HID projector kits, heaps better than the factory lights.
