I daily drive my Evo IX and I have a 80 mile commute one way which with traffic can take 2 hours. I even have coilovers with a mild 1 inch drop. The turbo spool allows me to thread the needle in traffic probably shaving a couple minutes from my commute. :-). I'd be bored to death in a Civic or Camry or whatever. I don't even listen to the radio and I have a 3" turbo back. The engine is my music. Call me crazy I don't care. :-)

Not crazy at all. If I didn't get my jollies on the track, I'd daily the crap out of my car! LOL

To be fair, I don't drive my Evo every day. This has nothing to do with creature comforts, and everything to do with wanting to reduce wear and tear on the Evo.

For years I daily drove a C3 Vette, no power steering, no power brakes, no a/c, no p/w, no p/l, and in DC traffic.

It was no big deal.

You listed 7 cars counting the Evo? What were the other two if you don't mind me asking?
Toyota AE92 Corolla, Ford BA XR6 Falcon and Holden Commodore are missing from that list :P

The Evo is incredibly slow compared to the R34, but that is because the Skyline made 500rwhp!

A female enthusiast? Love it! All the women I end up dating hate cars. What kind of power does the GSX make?

Nice ! 125k here. All new suspension bushings and engine internals! Beat on regularly WITH the original 6spd. Definitely not an investment.

Bought my Evo when I was 17 with like 80 miles, I was the first owner... I still remember when I first got the car how excited I was to get it specially coming from a Honda and this being every teens dream car. I am 24 now and still own my Evo but also decided to buy a BMW M6 when I turned 22 which I am also in love with just hate the maintenance and cost of everything.

I have thought about selling my Evo IX to purchase another Luxury vehicle, but my girlfriend won't allow it.. And now that I just recently invested for the first time on my car and feel the difference.. I think it will be VERY VERY TUFF to get rid of I Love My Evo all over again! HA

Also glad I don't live in a city and get to avoid this thing you call traffic

All joking aside, that last bit seems self inflicted. Sacrificing so much ride comfort that it becomes almost a chore to drive seems pointless to me. "Hey guys my car is really fast/cool/awesome/etc" "Why don't you ever drive it?" "Oh, it's really not fun on the street"
I've gotten a little bit of that, but not much honestly. I was thinking more of the attention of law enforcement... it doesn't fly under the radar as easily as a grey wagon.

The last part is true, but to be more capable and suitable for the track, you are going to have to make sacrifices in ride comfort. Personally, I keep my car as a sporty weekend car I enjoy on the street that I take to the track as opposed to a more dedicated track car.

edit: I see you drive a '14 Evo. Yeah, those fly under the radar and are better daily drivers than the 8 and 9!

I will say, when it comes time to go somewhere where parking is tight, the neighborhood isn't so great, or there is only valet parking, it sure is nice to take the Mazda and not have to worry about someone messing with the car or getting dings.

My traffic isn't nearly as bad, but driving it in day to day traffic is an exercise in frustration. Everyone goes SO slow. It feels like a waste taking it out to drive in slow traffic.

And I have to agree wholeheartedly with the second statement. Hopping in the Evo and taking it for a spin after driving the Mazda 3 for daily duty keeps me appreciating the Evo.

Lol my mom? And she bought my M6 also right? and my R6 motorcycle? at 17 I had barely graduated high school working at a fast food joint. My whole check went to the car I did a 7 year loan. 2 weeks later I was offered another job that paid decently well. At 19 years old I started a business which up till this day I just sold and starting up another one. I paid the remaining balance of about 20k in cash to the bank for the evo to get rid of debt. Just like I have paid my M6 in cash.

So yeah.. My education level is only high school and did not go to college, but I did not spend my time partying or wasting it. I spent my time educating myself which has actually gotten me very far. A lot further than a lot of college kids. Not saying college is a bad thing, but self education can also get you very far.

So do me a favor and stick to the topic and don't hate on something you have not been able to accomplish yourself.

Thanks

EDIT: Don't even know why I am even explaining myself to you. You're probably like 11 years old from the looks of your avatar which looks to be Pokemon... Maybe you can learn something from what I just wrote.

I just got my evo a few weeks ago. I also have only a high school diploma. Knowledge, education and schooling are different. I know plenty of people that went to college that are less educated than people that didn't. Being able to pass a written test and being able to apply knowledge and skills are very different things.

I think you need to learn some respect and people skills and maybe educate yourself on the proper way to behave in a public forum.

You don't need to explain yourself to him. Pig headed people like this just have no respect for anyone.

I think some people have their priorities a little backwards with these cars. They want to DD them and track them occasionally then go out and make them super uncomfortable for DD so they can do better on the track. If your original intention is to DD the car, then don't make it uncomfortable to drive on the street.

I want to eventually pick up a second one to be able to mod more harshly and keep the one I have now mostly stock. I know that's not an option for everyone, but I know if I try to get something "practical" with good MPG, I'm never going to drive it because the evo is so much more fun to drive. Plus it's an excuse to get an 8
