as always, use jackstands, be smart, make sure the car isn't going anywhere, etc., etc. im not responsible for the car dropping off and taking off through the garage lol
Ok no problem, i actually already have the car on 4 jack stands. When i spoke to Trevor at shepherd he actually recommended the same thing.
Ill give it a shot when i get home from work today.
How far should i back down the clutch adjustment?

I was wondering the same thing, according to the guy at the machine shop he said it looked like it had been machined before, but he also said that it looked like an after market fly wheel which it is not.

Just watched it, thanks. Although it looks like it was filmed with a vhs camera in 1985 it was quite informative.

The linkage is in correctly and everything is fastened and secured the same way it was before removing it. I double checked it...

back down the adjustment on the pedal...when you get a new clutch you shouldn't have it all the way back...if this doesn't work pull your pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel and have it measured by a pro to make sure the clearances are good...

This is a pic of the old clutch disc just for reference.
I have the side to the right with more metal installed facing the block

I hope that's correct...................

Don't know, haven't seen that specific clutch disc though it sounds like a stock fitment replacement. In general, spring side goes to the transmission... if it is a radical design that may not apply though..
Between these and 3.0 Eclipses I get ~8-10 of these a year in from other shops with backwards discs though. It will lock you out of all gears when you do that, can make noise, and will usually make the pedal move depending on your flywheel thickness.

Hopefully that isn't it, but it sure sounds like it. If you are seeing full push rod travel and you can't get into gear, there isn't really anything else to consider.

After the recent replies in this thread and also asking a local evo owner.
I believe the consensus is that I unknowingly installed the clutch disc backwards.
I never drove on it as is, I just started it 3 times. I hope there is no damage to the clutch disc / flywheel or pressure plate.......
The tear down begins tomorrow after work

Ya if you got the larger side facing the block, it will pretty much always catch on the flywheel bolts. Time to pull her out
